Finally Friday: Woven Back High/Low Knit Top

This Vince Camuto top looks like a great basic — you can wear it to work or on the weekend, you can pair it with skinny pants, and you can layer it under a cardigan or blazer. It looks flattering and also not too out-there in terms of the high/low style. (Note that it does seem to be slightly sheer on most of the back.) It only has a couple of reviews so far, but they’re very positive. And, bonus: It’s machine washable, tumble dry low. The top, which is $69 at Nordstrom, is available in plus sizes in black and coral, as well as other colors in regular sizes. Woven Back High/Low Knit Top

Washable Workwear Wednesday: V-Neck Dress

This dress is pretty highly rated, with 16 reviews and 4 stars. Note that, like most of Ming Wang’s designs, it’s machine wash warm and tumble dry low (and it’s wrinkle-resistant, too). If you’re looking for a basic dress that feels more luxe than, say, a t-shirt dress from Old Navy, do consider this brand. This style is $275 at Nordstrom, online only. V-Neck Dress

Psst: At least Carter’s President’s Day sale has started already, and it looks like Nordstrom has already started marking stuff down as well — any sales you have your eye on?

Washable Wednesday’s Workwear Report: Roz & Ali Scuba Sheath Dress

Dressbarn is not usually where I look for things to feature, but I was browsing over there for our recent Corporette roundup on the best workwear for size 16 and beyond and thought that this dress looked great. It’s got a slightly interesting neckline, which can sometimes be a bad thing if you’re buying from a store like Dressbarn, but I think this dress is so plain and simple, it’s a good thing here. I like that it’s fully lined and has slight cap sleeves, and that it’s machine washable. The red only has one size left (which is a good sign), but the blue has sizes 4-16 for just $48. Roz & Ali Scuba Sheath Dress

Here’s a plus-size option — while it’s not labeled machine washable, it’s dry clean and not “dry clean only.”

Washable Wednesday: Knit Blazer

We’ve written about this Olivia Moon blazer a lot — it’s been around for a thousand years, and people love it. It comes in regular (XS-XL) and petite (XXS-XL) sizes, as well as plus sizes, and besides the pictured space dye and a white space dye, it’s available in several solid colors. It’s labeled hand wash cold instead of machine washable, but if you’re careful you could try the hand wash cycle on your machine with some Woolite. For some reason the page is sometimes showing only eight customer reviews, but it’s also been showing 175 (with 4+ stars), which makes a lot more sense because it’s been around forever. Washable Workwear Wednesday: Dinora Notch Collar Double Knit Jacket

While I always try to feature something that’s machine washable for Wednesdays, I have to admit this one is hand wash cold — but it’s such a pretty jacket and it’s the kind of thing that’s great for a new mom. It’s an easy thing to throw on, and you’ll be comfortable but still look well put together. It has a lot of versatility, too —  you could wear it with a dress, a skirt, trousers, or jeans. Also, Antonio Melani tends to be about the usual quality for this price point. This is on sale right now for $62 from $179 and it has a lot of sizes left in its range of 0-14. Dinora Notch Collar Double Knit Jacket

Washable Workwear Wednesday: Circle Cardigan

I’ve mentioned this sweater a few times, but: have I mentioned that it’s one of my FAVORITE things that I bought recently? It’s ridiculously soft and cozy, holds its shape, and — huzzah! — is machine washable.  I love the bamboo knit so much I got my aunt a waterfall cardigan and my brother a pillow for the holidays. Nordstrom keeps showing this cardigan with leggings, and the waterfall cardigan with lingerie, but both are more than appropriate to wear to work for a casual day. (I just went through several pages of reviews to make sure I’m not crazy, since Nordstrom literally has this in the “robes” section, but no, a lot of other women mention wearing it to work as well. Regarding the complaints about the arms running small, I found it true to size, and I’ve never considered my arms particularly svelte.) The sweaters do have a nubby texture, but it doesn’t strike me as schlubby at all — and thus far it’s held up better than other cashmere and other sweaters that pill like mad. This cardigan is $115, available at Nordstrom and Amazon. (Nordstrom also has it in plus sizes.) Barefoot Dreams® ‘Circle’ Cardigan

(To discuss: what is your favorite sweater material to wear around the house with the kids? I bought a ton of cashmere last year on sale and am finding that my littlest seems to make a beeline for me as soon as his hands are gross and I’ve got cashmere on. If I’m not wearing this cardigan I often opt for sweatshirts on the weekends, but I have yet to find a brand or style that I really like.)
