Budget Thursday: Knit Muscle Stripe Tank Top

I’ve been hearing great things about the Universal Thread line from Target. The designs are cute for the summer and on trend without being too youthful. I love a good striped shirt, and this one gets good reviews for its length and soft fabric. Even though it’s only $10, I can see it being something I reach for over and over on summer weekends when I don’t want to put too much thought into what to pair with shorts. Bonus points to Universal Thread for also having an amazing shoe line, which I’d love to get my hands on one of these days. Universal Thread Knit Muscle Stripe Tank Top

Accessory Tuesday: Leather Crossbody Bag & Belt Bag

Maybe it’s all the normcore fashion that’s out there right now, but every bag line has their version of a fanny pack. With my formative years being the early-mid ’90s, I initially rejected the fanny pack resurgence. However, I can see the practicality here. This bag has enough space for a few cards, some cash, and your phone. If you keep it around your waist, you can avoid digging through a crowded diaper bag for the essentials. This particular one from Lo & Sons lets you dip your toe into the trend without fully committing, as you can also wear it as a cross body, shoulder bag, and wristlet. Three out of the four offered colors are currently 20% off. Lo & Sons Leather Crossbody Bag & Belt Bag

Budget Thursday: Elbow Patch Knit Blazer

Loft always has killer sales, and it’s hard to predict what will be in stock. This blazer looks lovely and has very positive reviews — and it would be a great workwear basic. I like the sort of academic look to the elbow patches, and the pale gray with a little bit of a herringbone pattern. I would wait until it’s 40–50% off, which should be any day now. Also note Loft’s new plus sizes and, as always, maternity sizes. For now, this blazer is $128 and comes in sizes 2–14. Elbow Patch Knit Blazer

Two plus-size options are at Talbots (also available in regular, petites, and woman petites) and Macy’s.

Accessory Tuesday: Sadie Wedge 40mm

Everyone sings the praises of Cole Haan Tali wedges, but the bow can seem a little fussy to me — so I much prefer these simpler wedges with the flexible foot. The snakeskin print featured here is a great neutral for a lot of different outfits, but note that they’ve also got black patent, black suede, beige suede, and more. They’re $179.95 at Zappos, and you can also find them at Amazon and Nordstrom in lots of colors. Cole Haan Sadie Wedge 40mm

A more affordable option is this lovely Franco Sarto wedge at DSW.

Washable Workwear Wednesday: Bright Tailored Cigarette Pants

These bright purple pants are on my radar because I have to go to an alumni event (purple is the university’s color) and I may actually buy the whole suit — we’ll see. I will note there are a ton of washable cigarette pants at ASOS right now. These are stretchy and machine washable, and they have side pockets, which I may sew down when mine arrive. They come in sizes XS–XL and are $72. Y.A.S Bright Tailored Cigarette Pants

Here’s a plus-size option, also at ASOS.

Makeup & Beauty Monday: SolarOil Nail & Cuticle Care

I found out about CND Essential’s SolarOil while looking for nail strengtheners on Amazon — it had a ton of great reviews so I thought I’d give it a try. My skin gets extremely dry in the winter, and this year I noticed that my nails looked pretty bad, too. They were really weak and I couldn’t grow them as long as I usually do. SolarOil’s ingredients are sweet almond oil, jojoba seed oil, rice bran oil, and Vitamin E, and it only has a slight fragrance. After using it several times a week (but not every day, as you’re supposed to), it has made a big difference –my nails are much stronger and I can grow them again. Don’t expect to be able to use your hands for many things after painting it on your nails and cuticles (and rubbing it in), because they’ll be really oily. I usually wipe the undersides of my fingers with a tissue and then I can type until it gets absorbed. SolarOil is $8.50 for 0.25 oz. at Amazon, which sounds pretty small, but it lasts for quite a while. SolarOil Nail & Cuticle Care
