Family & Weekend Friday: Kesey Winter Boot

I bought these boots two winters ago and they’re still going strong — and queued up for this upcoming one as well. During the cold weather, they basically never leave my feet — I wear them all weekend and then I commute in them during the week. In really bad weather when I decide I DGAF, I’ve even worn them to court and they pass. The inside is shearling, which keeps my feet warm, they’re completely waterproof, have non-slip bottoms, and they zip up the side for easy on and off. They’re available in the pictured black as well as chestnut for $159.95 at Zappos, where they have a 4-star rating from 483 reviews. UGG Kesey Winter Boot

Budget Thursday: Ponte-Knit Flocked-Dot Blazer

When it’s early in the morning and I’m in my closet trying to match blazers to shirts to pants, I curse myself for falling victim to cute blazers with varying necklines, patterns, and colors. Although it can get overwhelming while bleary eyed, how can you pass up something this cute? I love that it is a classic blazer cut but in ponte knit with polka dots to make it fun. This blazer is a new addition to Old Navy’s ponte blazer collection, and it is available for $44.99 in sizes XS–XXL, along with a plus-size version. Against my better judgment, I am likely going to buy this — matching it with the rest of my wardrobe is a problem for future April to figure out. Ponte-Knit Flocked-Dot Blazer

Accessory Tuesday: Surrey Watch

I really love this watch by Tory Burch. It looks like a cross between a watch and a bracelet. When I first saw the thumbnail, I thought it was one of those bracelets that has a watch face dangling from it like a charm, but when you actually see the photo of it on the model’s wrist, you can see how unique it is. I like the oversized clasp and the combination of the gold hardware with the tan band. It also comes in stainless steel on sale for $195, and orange leather with an orange face on sale for $149. The tan/gold combo is on sale for $165 and is available on toryburch.com. Surrey Watch

Makeup & Beauty Monday: Brilliant Glossing Shampoo with Olive Oil

I found this shampoo by accident. It honestly would never occur to me to spend more than $5 on shampoo, but after trying this one, I’ve heavily considered buying it myself. The way I was introduced to this shampoo was that my sister-in-law left her bottle in the shower at my in-laws’ house. I couldn’t resist trying it when I spotted it, and I really loved how it made my hair feel and look. You don’t need a lot of it to work up a rich lather, it smells great, and it made my hair shiny yet volumized. If I were to buy my own bottle, I’d probably save it for once a week or before a big event. This shampoo is available at Target and is $28.49. Even knowing how much I like it, I am still sensitive to the price, but maybe in a weaker, treat-myself moment, I’ll end up getting it. Brilliant Glossing Shampoo with Olive Oil

Budget Thursday: High-Rise Super Skinny Ankle Pants

I really like these pants from Old Navy. They hit all the marks for me: They are high rise, have an elastic waist with a side zipper, are ankle length, and come in several colors. I especially like the elastic waist and side zipper — I find when pants have a side zipper it takes away some of the bulk in the front waistline, which is the area where I’d like to have less bulk generally. I always like when there’s a notch at the bottom of ankle pants; I think it accentuates a nice part of the leg and brings attention to the shoes. Personally, when I am not spending a lot of money on pants, I like to order a size up from what I usually wear to take into account a thinner fabric, and I have found that to be true for most pants at Old Navy. These are on sale for $22 ($29.99 full price); come in regular (0–20), tall (2–20), and petite (0–20) sizes; and are machine washable. High-Rise Super Skinny Ankle Pants

A similar option at Old Navy in plus sizes is also on sale — for $20.

Accessory Tuesday: Modern Screw Cuff

This bracelet from Miansai has been on my wish list for a long time. I love that it looks like a weighty piece, but also minimalist at the same time. The way it screws onto your wrist reminds me a little bit of the Cartier Love bracelet, though MUCH more affordable. The screw also looks like something fun to play with while talking on the phone or calling into a conference call — a fashionable version of a fidget spinner. Haha. The design and cuff style would work with any type of outfit. I see it “toughening up” something on the girly side, and complimenting a tailored outfit. This cuff is $200 and available at Shopbop. For more affordable options, these two sellers on Etsy have similar bracelets that are under $50.
