Accessory Tuesday: Sadie Wedge 40mm

Everyone sings the praises of Cole Haan Tali wedges, but the bow can seem a little fussy to me — so I much prefer these simpler wedges with the flexible foot. The snakeskin print featured here is a great neutral for a lot of different outfits, but note that they’ve also got black patent, black suede, beige suede, and more. They’re $179.95 at Zappos, and you can also find them at Amazon and Nordstrom in lots of colors. Cole Haan Sadie Wedge 40mm

A more affordable option is this lovely Franco Sarto wedge at DSW.

Washable Workwear Wednesday: Bright Tailored Cigarette Pants

These bright purple pants are on my radar because I have to go to an alumni event (purple is the university’s color) and I may actually buy the whole suit — we’ll see. I will note there are a ton of washable cigarette pants at ASOS right now. These are stretchy and machine washable, and they have side pockets, which I may sew down when mine arrive. They come in sizes XS–XL and are $72. Y.A.S Bright Tailored Cigarette Pants

Here’s a plus-size option, also at ASOS.

Makeup & Beauty Monday: SolarOil Nail & Cuticle Care

I found out about CND Essential’s SolarOil while looking for nail strengtheners on Amazon — it had a ton of great reviews so I thought I’d give it a try. My skin gets extremely dry in the winter, and this year I noticed that my nails looked pretty bad, too. They were really weak and I couldn’t grow them as long as I usually do. SolarOil’s ingredients are sweet almond oil, jojoba seed oil, rice bran oil, and Vitamin E, and it only has a slight fragrance. After using it several times a week (but not every day, as you’re supposed to), it has made a big difference –my nails are much stronger and I can grow them again. Don’t expect to be able to use your hands for many things after painting it on your nails and cuticles (and rubbing it in), because they’ll be really oily. I usually wipe the undersides of my fingers with a tissue and then I can type until it gets absorbed. SolarOil is $8.50 for 0.25 oz. at Amazon, which sounds pretty small, but it lasts for quite a while. SolarOil Nail & Cuticle Care

Budget Thursday: Hestley Loafer

If we’d had an Accessory Tuesday this week, I would have posted this Paul Green loafer (even though I’m not normally a loafer girl). These $40 loafers from Indigo Rd. are much more affordable and come recommended from a reader, who said they’re a great option for wearing with ankle pants and so on. She said they’re “Super comfy right out of the box and a great fit for someone who has problems with their heels slipping out of shoes. They also do a good job of straddling the line between menswear inspired and still feminine.” The shoes are available at DSW in black in sizes 6-11. Hestley Loafer

Budget Thursday: Reversible Woven Cami

I did not realize it until I found this particular reversible camisole, but WHBM has an entire line of reversible clothes, including camisoles, tops, and dresses in regular and plus sizes. Now, while this can be great — particularly if you’re traveling — I would note that if you’re dealing with a print on one side and a dark solid on the other side, you’re probably best advised to wear the print side first to avoid the inevitable deodorant stains — then wear the dark side second. In any event, I think this woven camisole is cute, and I like both the polka dot and the stripey side, and I also like the way that the reverse side peeks out a bit at the bottom. The pictured cami is $49. Reversible Woven Cami

Accessory Tuesday: Sharna Cross Strap

These shoes from Rockport are very highly rated at Zappos, and they’re on sale, too (for $55.99 from $80). They look like they’d be great shoes for running around after your kiddo, but they’re also flattering, particularly because the crossed straps dip below the line where the typical ankle strap would go. Rockport Sharna Cross Strap
