We did a roundup of the best jeans for work last week on Corporette, so I thought we’d do a mini-roundup of the best maternity jeans for work and play here! For those of you who work(ed) in business casual offices while pregnant, did you have a favorite pair of maternity jeans for office looks? In general, which were your favorite maternity jeans during your pregnancy?
(I… may have liked my over-the-bump Gap pair so much I wore my maternity pants well after maternity, like until my kids were like three months old…)

Old Navy over the bump hands down.

Honest question — if you’re hiring child care help for the summer, how are you finding these people? I am hesitant to post on Facebook or very public sites, for fear of getting raked over the coals. But I could really, really use some help.

You might have to get creative or use a nanny agency. Do you have any family that could help? I honestly considered asking my MIL if I could bring my kid to her house 250 miles away for a few days. Anyway, my SIL happened to need a place to stay for about six weeks, and honestly I would never have pinned her as great with kids, but she has been fantastic. She plays with my 3 y/o for hours, has been teaching him to bake, is very respectful of our rules (basic stuff like no tv before breakfast), and is helping around the house. Other ideas: ask day care teachers who might need extra income, possibly look into college kids? It’s been discussed on here but I’d be cautious about hiring younger people – IME they aren’t taking social distancing seriously.

Having this same question and was thinking of reaching out to the nanny agency that we used a few years ago. With social distancing, I would prefer someone who could live in our guest room so that I know they are taking the rules seriously, but that also seems that it could be really stressful to add someone to the household right now.

Our daycare teachers are being paid through June 30, and can’t accept alternative employment while they’re being paid. After that I plan to reach out to the director and ask if we can contact teachers with offers to babysit for our family – even if we couldn’t get full-time help, part-time help would help so much. We had a terrible experience hiring a nanny over Care.com so I really don’t trust myself to find someone who isn’t already vetted (and nanny agencies don’t exist in our area) and I think my kiddo would really prefer someone she knows anyway. June 30 feels like such a long way away though :/ My parents want to come visit for a few weeks in late May/early June, and we’ll probably let them, even though I’m nervous about the risk to them (they can drive here at least, so that’s a plus).

I’ve had really good luck with maternity clothes in general from Stitch Fix. They’ve sent great jeans from Liverpool and Kut from the Kloth that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else. Gap maternity jeans tended to have a less supportive panel and fell down a lot. I have to do the over-belly panel even early in the first trimester because any pressure on my abdomen makes the nausea and vomiting worse.

Over the bump helps avoid the risk of accidentally exposing skin. For this pregnancy, I got one pair of Citizens maternity jeans because they fit well, had a long enough inseam, and looked professional enough for my semi-casual law firm office (remember offices?). I found it better to invest in two nice pairs of pants rather than buy a bunch of cheap things that fell apart or didn’t fit well. I literally had an Old Navy maternity dress split open on the train during my first pregnancy and will never buy Old Navy adult clothes again.

I had a pair of Pea in the Pod over-the-bump jeans that I really loved. They were secondhand from my sister, too, and still in great shape.

I had a whatever Motherhood Maternity brand of dark wash, boot cut, over the bump jeans and they lasted 2 pregnancies of near daily wear.

H & M over the bump. Affordable, comfortable, stylish. They look and feel like normal jeans.
I don’t understand under the bump pants. How do they stay up?
