Above, some of recommendations for maternity style and beyond! As explained in our free eBook, A Guide to Dressing Professionally While Pregnant, statement necklaces are a great way to distract from an ample bosom (and extend a basic wardrobe), and comfortable, supportive shoes are a must, like these cute ballet flats with arch support (available in five colors!). Also, as noted in the eBook: you may want to hold off on buying a fancy diaper bag until the kiddo arrives — but this Storksak baby bag has a ton of positive reviews. Humidity has hit the midwest – yuck. The heat doesn’t bother me, but the mugginess has me sweaty and chafing (I hate that word….). It’s a long (hot, sweaty) time until Philanthropy Baby is here in September.
Any tips or tricks for beating the humidity and staying dry?

Any ideas for a birthday present for a one-year old girl? She’s the youngest of three (two boys) and has all the classic one year old gifts – push toy, things to bang on, shape sorter etc. Maybe something for as she gets older? Is it weird to get a baby a few boxes of tissues? (Her favorite activity seems to be pulling all the tissues out of the box – but maybe that’s instilling a bad habit.)

For first birthdays I buy personalized beach/pool towels (pottery barn kids has great ones, I think they’re on sale now).
Then I usually add beach toys (bucket/shovel) or pool/bath toys.

I’m the weird aunt who buys books. You can find lots of the classics on board books, sometimes with a stuffed animal or puppet. Wooden puzzles are also great at that ages. She’ll grow into a puzzle. Also, you can find tons of great quiet books on Etsy.

Quiet books are a great idea. I have one from this woman and it is AMAZING. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1cxUH_lJcz8v0cVRqZkt3uZdC838OpN69qHeHvGO43pY/viewform

Thanks for the ideas! The quiet book looks great! I’ve ordered lots of felt play sets from etsy, but it would be nice to have something where she won’t lose all the pieces.

Dumb question: how do I find older posts on this site? I can’t seem to get back to the previous open thread.

if you click the category at the bottom of the post that says “Open Thread” you’ll get to a listing of all of ’em… sorry, still playing with the new theme.

Got it – thanks!
It would also be great is there was a link from the main Corporette site to the new Moms site.

For anyone who has Gapcash, they’re redeeming those certificates in stores and online now. With the gapcash plus their regular sale I just got like 9 pieces for under $5 each!
