Washable Workwear Wednesday: High-Waisted Super Skinny Ankle Pants

I recently made two pants purchases, one of which is the High Waisted Super Skinny Ankle Pant from Old Navy (pictured). The other is the Everlane Side Zip Work Pant. They’re not exactly the same, but they are similar enough to be compared. The Old Navy pair is ankle length, and Everlane offers these pants in ankle, but I bought regular length, which is perfect (longer than ankle but no hemming needed, and I am 5’3″). They both have a side zipper with similar buttonhole closure, though the Everlane version is a more substantial/quality zipper. They are both a similar kind of stiff cotton material, but I sized up by one size in the Old Navy pair since I bought them in a lighter color and the material was slightly thinner. They were both nicely high waisted and flattering. I am glad that I own both, but I think I’m going to re-buy the Everlane version in either a navy or gray to get a lot of mileage from them. I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up another pair from Old Navy in a fun color when a sale is happening. (The color I have now is Canopy.) The High Waisted Super Skinny Ankle Pant from Old Navy is on sale for $15–$20 (depending on color — they were originally $30), and Everlane’s Side Zip Work Pant is $50. I love the color, but these ON pants wouldn’t be flattering on me (short waist, lower set boobs). Props to Everlane for including pictures of models wearing different sizes. I wish more retailers did that.
Anyone else already counting down the hours till this day off of school is over? I’ve already managed 2 meltdowns and escorted my kiddo out of my home office twice. Having a play date this afternoon should buy me some peace but dear lord I am NOT doing a day off without some camp in place again (and this is WITH a sitter btw, ugh). It must be a universal rule – a child home from school will always want their mom regardless of the presence of sitter/friend/etc….unless TV or iPad is on offer….
I’ve posted a couple times about my pregnancy bleeding and inconclusive ultrasounds. Unfortunately last week at 10w, we got the news that the baby had stopped growing and there was no longer a heartbeat. I have a D&C scheduled for tomorrow under general anesthesia, and I’m soo nervous. Any advice? Thanks to this community.
My 20 month old is expressing interest in peeing on the potty. I have no expectation that we could actually train her before age 2, but is it ok to let her practice now? Any recs for a potty seat? She is big for her age but still seems tiny next to an adult toilet.
Had my 7 week ultrasound today. There is a heartbeat, baby is measuring around 6 weeks which makes sense because we did it pretty late in my cycle, but the radiologist noted there was some bleeding around the yolk sac. He estimated risk of miscarriage around 50-50 and suggested we come back in 2 weeks to check on it. I have a note into my OB to see whether that is her assessment as well, but all in all kind of downer day. Trying to decide whether to tell the grandparents (last time we told them at 6w because hey it was our first but also I had HG by then so they would have known something was up). This time I don’t want to get their hopes up (even tempered by the risk), but we have a toddler, so if we end up in the situation of the poster above needing a D&C in a few weeks, we’ll have to tell them anyways because I will want DH at the hospital with me and they’ll need to watch kiddo.
Are there any good apps or games for teaching number recognition (over 10)? My preschooler is struggling a bit with this, and it’s fine, but I think she’d like to get better herself. Partially because she loves calendars, but it’s just not sinking in! TIA!
I am so very sorry. Sending all the virtual hugs.
At what age did you move your baby to their own room? I know AAP says one year, but it seems like all sleep advice is written as if the baby is already in their own room.
