Finally Friday: Air Juliana 45 Pump

Amazon has a pretty nice trove of lucky sizes in this Cole Haan Air Juliana pump, presumably some of the last shoes now that the Cole Haan Air collaboration has finished. (We talked about their new comfort shoe line, Grand OS, here.) Reviews are mixed on how the new line compares to the older Cole Haan Air shoes, though, so if you’re on the hunt, you may want to check this shoe out. There’s a pretty wide price range, from $52-$148 — good luck, ladies! Cole Haan Air Juliana 45 Pump (L-2)Sales of note for 1/16:

And — here are some of our latest threadjacks of interest – working mom questions asked by the commenters!
- The concept of “backup care” is so stupid…
- I need tips on managing employees in BigLaw who have to leave for daycare pickup…
- I’m thinking of leaning out to spend more time with my family – how can I find the perfect job for that?
- I’m now a SAHM and my husband needs to step up…
- How can I change my thinking to better recognize some of my husband’s contributions as important, like organizing the shed?
- What are your tips to having a good weekend with kids, especially with little kids? Do you have a set routine or plan?
CRAP! Just got walked in on while pumping by the maintenance guy. Forgot to use my door stop and “Do not Disturb” sign. Oh well.
Probably silly first time mom question:
My first baby is due in a few weeks, and I am trying to stock up on things I will need for baby and me. I understand there will be some postpartum bleeding. All of the lists I see say to buy “pads.” But what kind of pads are we talking about? Like overnight period pads? Poise pads? I went to the store yesterday and was totally overwhelmed.
Thanks for any insight. I’m honestly too embarrassed to sainthood anywhere else!
If you want to use pacifiers, try one of a bunch of different brands. We went through a lot before we settled on a brand that my kids liked (Mam, followed by Nuk). Same with bottles – you never what your child may prefer.
The Johnson and Johnson antibacterial wipes in the yellow package. Very soft, safe for baby skin, but good to use for diaper change mishaps, dropped pacifiers, everyday life, etc. Boogie Wipes are great once the baby is a little older.
We love California Baby massage oil for babies with the eucalyptus scent for when the babies are sick. It’s like Vick’s, but baby safe.
Absolutely a Rock-n-Play.
Registry time!
Are there any random things or essential things that experienced moms recommend I add to my registry? Or just buy for myself? I think I’ve covered all the normal bases, but want to check to see if there’s anything fun or just extremely awesome that I should add to my list.
Does anyone have any experience with seeing a therapist? I was thinking of going to one to talk through some issues I have been having. I have been feeling overwhelmed, and somewhat unhappy in my job, and wanted to talk it through with a professional. Good idea? Bad idea? Any thoughts? Thanks!
So, so, so HAPPY for the spring weather we are getting in my neck of the woods. I took the kiddo out to the playground last night between daycare and dinner. It’s the first time she has ever explored a playground, since she wasn’t walking yet last fall and the equipment was pretty snowy and icy this winter. The gigantic grin on her face as she wandered between the climbing sets totally made my week.
Question for those of you who have the Bravado seamless nursing bra. I am in the last two weeks of pregnancy (first) and bought a medium (current 34 dd is getting a bit tight but ok). The medium fits pretty well now but looks like it could expand a little more. How much does it stretch? I’m trying to decide if going for a large would be better for when I am actually nursing, but also trying to avoid the hassle of exchanging through Amazon. Thanks!
Yesterday my new maternity/nursing bras arrived. I.am.so.much.more.comfortable. That is all.
Except that – I do need new shoes to get through the last stages of pregnancy this spring. I’m going on a hunt tomorrow – seriously, I mapped out 3 stores, will start off with a pedicure – and then hopefully I’m ready for baby in 2 months.
Except for the nursery…
Yuuuup. We haven’t been flattened (yet) with the viruses, but the snow days are killing me. Thank god they’ve managed to hit most of the eastern seaboard so almost my entire team is in the same boat. I’ve given myself a break on how much TV my son has watched, really, there is no other feasible way to entertain a 3-year old and try to work. We strictly limit screen time otherwise so I figured a couple of days wasn’t going to kill him.
Just a quick vent for today: I started a new job at the beginning of the year. And then our family has been flattened by viruses, snow days that closed daycares, and pink eye. My oldest has been home all week with a fever (back to the doctor today because of that) and while my husband and I have split time at home as much as possible, I hate that this is part of my “first impression” at work. Everyone has been great about it at the office, but I still worry.
And since I’m trying to work with a 3-year old at home, he has watched SO MUCH TV this week. And if I have to hear another episode of Paw Patrol or Octonauts, I might yell.
All that to say…is it time for wine yet?
