Remember that resolution you made back on January 1? Mine was to read more books — real books, and not something on my phone.
I’ve never been a big diary/journal keeper, but this reading log and journal might help me turn my resolution into a habit. This colorful log features dedicated space for reading goals, a reading tracker, book reviews, book club meetings, favorite book lists, and a to-read list. It has everything I’m looking for to track and reflect upon my reading.
This Book Lovers Reading Log and Journal from Erin Condren is $22.50.

Tomorrow is April fools. Any good jokes or pranks for my kids (5-9)?
AIMS says
I have an family friend who would wake us up by shouting “it’s snowing!!!!” I don’t know how good that is, but it’s fairly low effort.
You could maybe do something to their breakfast? Freeze cereal for their milk? Put food coloring into their eggs or pancakes?
AIMS says
* by freeze milk I mean put it in the bowl with just a little cereal & spoon and freeze the night before and then pour more cereal on top in the morning.

Not sure why you’d buy something like this when you can log everything for free on Goodreads.

I have a reading journal that I prefer to Goodreads because I like putting pen to paper. I’m also burned out on screens by the end of the day. No passwords to remember. And no snarky comments or ads to deal with!

I am totally the target audience for Goodreads, but I don’t want to spend my free time typing. I have a spreadsheet where I keep my to-read list and check things off once I read them. there’s a column for whether I’d recommend the book or not, but it’s a simple yes or no. I often have way more thoughts than that, so I’m not sure how I haven’t thought to get a paper reading journal yet. now I want one! agreed that physically writing is soothing.

You can rate books on Goodreads without reviewing them. That’s what I do, and it also serves as a reminder of whether or not I’d recommend them (I generally only recommend books I gave 4-5 stars to).

Reposting from earlier page:
Are blackout curtains necessary for a nursery? I ordered Wirecutter’s top rec for blackout curtains which arrived today and they don’t seem that great. We have giant windows in the nursery, with transom windows (? not sure if this is the term, but square windows above our regular windows) so I don’t have a great way to add blinds that would cover the entire set of windows. Open to blackout curtain suggestions (need the length to be ~120″) OR if this will be no big deal, please tell me that too please (: Baby #1 due in 3 weeks

Newborns don’t care if the room is dark. As they become older, it’s nice to darken the room as a sign that it’s time for sleep. By no means is it necessary.
You have time.
Instead of blackout curtains, I once did target velvet curtains. YMMV, especially given the size.

+ 1 to this. The blackout curtains we got at Target for our bedroom are fantastic – brand is Project 62. Better than the PBK curtains in our nursery

It probably won’t be a big deal. We did have blackout curtains in the nursery from birth, but baby slept in our room at night and we just have regular curtains that aren’t that great. Baby was a great sleeper. The other person is right that older infants and toddlers are much more sensitive to the room not being fully dark. I would not add blinds if you don’t already have them – they don’t do much to block light and they can be a safety issue as the baby gets bigger.

You are fine and you have time. We had just regular curtains in my kids’ rooms. One was in a room that got tons of Sun so when she was a toddler that fought naps I put a quilt over the windows. Easy peasy.
