I’m looking forward to some spring hikes, and here’s a hiking boot that delivers both style and substance.
This fun, retro, waterproof boot keeps your feet dry on damp trails. It has a padded collar, cushioned footbed, and low heel for hours of comfort. If hiking isn’t your thing, these will also work for urban excursions. In addition to gray/purple, it also comes in wheat/black (lucky sizes only).
Timberland’s Euro Waterproof Hiker Boot is $99.99–$129.95, depending on the color. It’s available at Nordstrom in sizes 5.5–11.

I would totally have rocked these boots with a safari-inspired outfit in 1988.

I love them! I don’t really need hiking boots (I don’t do serious hiking and am fine day hiking in sneakers) but they’re so cute.

does anyone else worry about overscheduling their kids? when i was a kid i was in a different activity every day of the week after school but my kids barely tolerate 1.

I get overscheduled before the kids do.

This. None of my kids are overscheduled, but I am overscheduled juggling the three of them

My husband and I don’t agree on activities. I have them in swim lessons on Saturday mornings, and that’s it. I did dance and girl scouts and occasionally soccer or softball growing up. I would like my kids to be in more activities but DH is very worried about overscheduling. He talked me out of Girl Scouts because it was twice a month from 6-7:30 p.m. (which, okay, for a Kindergartner and a 2nd grader is kind of late), but they don’t do anything during the week!

I wouldn’t say I “worry” about it but I definitely limit activities because I believe free time is important. My kid is 4 and we’re at one Saturday morning activity and one weeknight activity at a time (the activities themselves rotate – currently soccer and ninja, will do swim this summer and hopefully theater or something else arts-related in the fall). Next academic year we will have religious school on Sunday mornings too. I’m very hesitant to add more than that but we’ll see. Most American kids don’t have enough down time.

I do. I think downtime is important. DD is almost 5 and is in swimming one weeknight (non-negotiable until she is a strong swimmer (can swim the pool length unassisted)) and then has soccer one weekend morning, plus two speech therapy sessions a week. When she starts K in the fall, the speech therapy will get rolled into the school day so that “activity” will drop but school days will be longer. We might add Girl Scouts in but it depends on if we can find the right chill troop. And we might be able to drop weekly swimming by then given the progress she has been making to-date and switch to just summer swim combined with regular off-season indoor pool visits to reinforce, but TBD.

I am wary of overscheduling my kid, but I think circumstances matter. My kid basically plays all day in kindergarten, and wanted to do more activities, like her friends. So, we have activities a couple of times a week, but I would much rather prefer a situation where the school does more stuff and my kid chills out at home with her family. I don’t know if that’s a realistic thing to want these days, though.

Trigger warning: body image/weight.
Hi all, I am really struggling. I’m midway through my first pregnancy, and I feel fat and ungainly. The problem is, I was obese before getting pregnant – was working with a nutritionist and exercising, but not making much of a dent in weight loss. I am thrilled to be pregnant after a long fertility journey, but I don’t know how to fix this and I am desperately afraid of gaining even more weight and never losing it after the pregnancy. I have been seeing a therapist. Has anyone been there?

What tops should I wear with the Eileen Fisher crepe pants for a business casual office? I got them in black, and I’m a size 16. I would love a silk-ish top but I haven’t found one that hits the right balance of flowy but not tent-like.
