Banana Republic Factory has some solid staples, like this silky classic shirt.

Unlike other satin shirts, this semi-fitted blouse has a matte finish for an updated look. But it is still full of traditional details like a point collar, button cuffs, and back yoke with center box pleats. This shirt runs small, so consider sizing up if you want a roomier fit.

The shirt starts at $40 and comes in 10 colors/patterns. It’s available in sizes XXS-XXL as well as petites.

Low stakes question – Where have you purchased bunk beds and been happy with them? I’m thinking we want something sturdy for two boys that could also be individual beds when they’re older. Is the mark-up at local shops worth it? Anyone buy from Costco? Flexible budget but don’t want to spend $3K if I don’t have to.

My mama heart hurts today. My almost 5-year old daughter visited her dad, who lives out of state, over the long weekend, and has been struggling since then. She cried last night and says that she misses him, and wants to go back and see him. She also had a big tantrum and told me she hates me. I’m trying to tell myself that it’s good that they had a nice weekend together and that this must mean that I’m doing a good job of hiding from her how much I resent him, but man, I’m hurting. He’s voluntarily unemployed, doesn’t contribute a penny towards her preschool, camps, medical insurance, anything. I’m entirely on my own with the burden of parenting, and all the costs. I do every single preschool drop off and pick up, cook every dinner, console her during every nighttime wake-up, take her to soccer and dance, everything. He feeds her processed foods and candy, and all rules go out the window when she’s with him. I’m always the rule enforcer, and the one keeping things running, so of course I’m the less fun parent. I’m just trying so hard to give her a good childhood and to be a good parent (while juggling a really demanding job), but it feels so hard sometimes. I just want to cry at my desk today.

There’s a local program where my kid could learn to fly by the end of high school. I know a bit about what an adult can do with a pilot’s license, for recreation and work. But does anyone know how it might play into the college admissions game?

I have a situation I don’t know how to handle. My husband is generally a wonderful person who is a good co-parent day to day. We have a 3 year old son and there are parts of the day that my husband is watching him mainly and others where I am. My son has a ton of questions and ideas and wants to play with you. My husband isn’t great with interacting with him. He usually has an air pod in and is listening to a podcast while he’s watching him. Occasionally both of us have to say his name a few times before he realizes we’re talking to him. It feels like my son has figured this out and essentially stopped trying to connect with him. He’ll find me to show me something or ask a question.

I don’t want it to sound like my son gets my full attention all day long, but I definitely try harder to make time together, especially when he’s excited about something.

I’ve brought this up in the past and my husband will say he’s tired and doing the best he can. He clearly doesn’t love my comments and says we have different standards and parenting styles and our son is happy and healthy so we’re doing fine. We talked a lot about parenting before we had our son and I know this isn’t the type of relationship he wanted. The only thing I can think of is to take on more of the care so my husband can relax more and therefore be more present and available. But thats not fair to me and frankly I don’t want to take on more. I feel bad just letting it happen but we’ve discussed it a few times and there’s no change.

Low-stakes question – my toddler really likes books with photographs (like the ones of kids doing things that Loveevery sends). Is there a good board book out there with animal photographs? I saw tons of options for older kids at the bookstore but nothing for the toddler set – he definitely needs a board book (real paper doesn’t stand a chance with him) and it doesn’t need to be long. I think he would love pictures of big cats.

A friend in our neighborhood is having a baby soon. They also have an older son who is friends with my son. I don’t think they will receive much help from their families, so I want to bring them a meal when the baby arrives. I know the mom is gluten-free and the son likes fruit but might have a nut allergy. What should I make?
