I love luxe knitwear this time of year, and this coat from Sskein is on my wishlist.
This elegant, reversible coat is made from a soft and warm alpaca blend. One side is classic black and the other features an abstract floral pattern. Although knitted with a double layer for warmth, this oversized coat leaves plenty of room for layering for extra chilly days.
The Rosalie Coat is $588 and comes in one size.
Some of our favorite classic coats for work as of 2024 include J.Crew, Sam Edelman, Aritzia, L.L.Bean, Quince, and Cole Haan. On the splurgier side, do check out Mackage, Soia & Kyo, Eileen Fisher, Fleurette, and Cinzia Rocca. We’ve also rounded up our favorite washable winter coats!

Hello from the other side of the world! We hauled the kids halfway round the world to visit my family, which is both an incredible privilege and a chore. I am a bit of a tyrant about making everyone at least try to eat on the destination schedule, but kids’ bodies are going to do what they do. One kid, the morning lark, napped intermittently throughout both legs of the flight (14h, 6h) and our 7h layover. The night owl stayed up for 22 solid hours (from when she woke up on our first travel day) and then crashed for five. The adventurous eater enjoyed all the airline meals and the food court in our layover airport – international flights really do seem to have better food. The picky eater got a lot of snacks and we found her a couple of meals she enjoyed.
It’s taken then a few days but they now seem pretty adjusted. As I type this it’s 6:45am and they are still asleep instead of bouncing all over my parents’ house at five in the morning. Having cousins to play with and keep them awake in the early evenings also helps. We’ve eaten about six different kinds of noodle dishes, seafood four ways, and ten different kinds of fruit in the last four days; I’m at the point in our trips where I just want a huge salad to kind of balance everything out!
Just a small vent into the void. I am so so glad the holidays are done. This week included my mil forcing my family to take our anaphylactic to eggs and peanuts toddler to a Thai restaurant. And then yesterday my mil and sister-in-law had the great idea to Make creme brulee at our family gathering. Watching my in-laws, handle raw egg and then interact with my child was a true joy. Super fun to find small hives on him later. Lesson learned. I will be controlling a lot more of future holidays just to add to the never-ending list to start. Yippee!
we are currently out of town visiting family and my kids have literally taken turns being sick. We do Hanukkah and my dad insists the gifts be opened in the evening and I knew my kids would be frustrated if there wasn’t something they could play with right away…well of course the item they received that could be used right away requires the tiniest of screwdrivers that my dad does not have…hope everyone who celebrates had a nice Christmas and/or first night of Hanukkah
