If you haven’t tried Free People for off duty clothes, I highly recommend the brand, particularly if you like a more boho, laid back, Anthro-ish kind of vibe. Everything is slouchy perfection, and other thermal tops like this are suuuper soft and stretchy. (Stuff does tend to be very low cut, although that can be a plus if you’re still nursing.) The brand runs pretty large, in my experience. This Flashdance-style off-the-shoulder top is on sale for $34-$45, available in sizes XS-L. Palisades Off the Shoulder Top

What’s your typical summer date outfit? Do you still get all dressed up for your partner or, if you have little kids, are you just happy to get time alone? Do you have rules like “no talking about the kids”? These best-selling espadrilles give you a ton of height but are actually only 2″ high with the platform, so they’re a good medium, and I could see them working with everything from a casual outfit to a more dressed up look for a summer date or brunch with your girlfriends. They’re $149 at Nordstrom, Amazon, and Zappos, and come in a zillion colors.

Maternity Monday: Twist-Front Halter Swimsuit

It’s everyone’s favorite time of year… bathing suit season! Ha. I was in my first trimester during the summer months, so I never got to go full bump on the beach. It was the awkward time where I just looked bloated and didn’t want to share my pregnancy news, so needless to say, it wasn’t a great time to wear a swimsuit. For those of you who’ll be farther along in these upcoming months, I like this suit. The multi-directional stripes keeps the eye moving, and it looks like a flattering cut — halter top to hoist everything up and generous coverage in the front and backside. Personally, I would not want to spend more than this on a bathing suit I may never wear again after this summer, and I think Old Navy suits are of decent quality for the price. The pictured suit is $42, available in sizes XS–XXL — and also available in black. Maternity Twist-Front Halter Swimsuit

Weekend Open Thread (Happy Mother’s Day!)

Happy Mother’s Day! This dress looks great to wear for any family gatherings you’ve got this weekend — sweet but still stylish — assuming, of course, that a white/blue floral print isn’t too dangerous to wear around your kiddos. The dress is part of the new Nordstrom collaboration with the blogger behind Gal Meets Glam (with sizes up to 18 in this dress), comes in a beige/orange version as well, and is $178. If memory serves, I bought these last year for a lightweight, waterproof sandal to take with us to a waterpark — and it was a nice upgrade over my usual Reefs. I’ve long been a fan of Birkenstocks for weekend wear, and this bright color was a fun change.  Nordstrom has a zillion other colors, including a great yellow, coral, and pink, as well as sleek all-black and all-white versions. The sandals are $40, and highly rated at Nordstrom; they’re also available at Amazon and Zappos. Essentials – Gizeh Flip Flop

Ooh, I’m loving these comfy yet stylish pants from cool girl brand Frame — they look great for the weekend or a casual workday (but know your office). (Nordstrom actually has a ton of pieces from Frame in their big Winter Sale that just started! I’ll try to do a fuller roundup of the big Nordstrom sale that just started, as well as all the Presidents’ Day sales starting now — please stay tuned over at Corporette!) They were $235, but are now marked to $140; lots of sizes are left as of right now. Two other mom-related sales of note: Nordstrom has UPPAbaby on sale, and Amazon’s deal of the day is on LILLEbaby carriers. See our older posts on strollers (we loved the Uppababy G-Luxe) and baby wearing.
