Family Friday: Candy Stipes Onesie

I love onesies — now that my toddler is interested in exploring his diaper, it’s the only thing that buys me enough time to stop him. Onesies come in countless prints and patterns, but if your taste veers towards minimalist, consider this striped onesie from Minibrook.
This sporty onesie (Minibrook was started by Nina Westbrook, wife of NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook) is made from easy-to-care-for, soft organic cotton. It’s also made in the U.S.A., and a portion of all proceeds is donated to organizations that focus on “serving and uplifting youth.”
This onesie is $30 and available in sizes 0–3M to 12–18 M. In addition to “Marigold,” it’s available in pink.

“Minimalist” is not the word I would use to describe this.
So we were supposed to go to New Orleans this weekend – first trip without our kids since October 2017 and my husband had it all planned! – and there’s a tropical storm. Coming from Houston and need to be back midday Sunday so can’t be too far. Also can’t be Mexico because don’t have covid tests today.
Help! Am thinking Charleston? We’re not very preppy though and he’s pretty disappointed. Any ideas? Threw around a boutique in Austin or San Antonio but a lot sold out and also Texas is the only place we’ve traveled for the past year and a half!
Anyone else’s school district cancel school today with less than one day notice to observe the new Federal holiday? DCPS (Washington, DC) emailed parents at 6 PM last night telling us that we wouldn’t have school today. Our family is fine since I had to quit my job to manage virtual schooling for my children since our school never opened up enough classrooms for students to come back in person so I’m at home anyway (we’re still 100% virtual, not by choice) but so many families have been left scrambling. I’m very on board with celebrating this holiday but a Monday observance would have given families at least a couple of days to arrange alternate care.
Best audiobooks for a car-trip with a rising 3rd and 5th grader? We’ve already done the first few Harry Potter.
Today is my last day of work before my three week sabbatical!! Then, when I do go back, kids have one week of day-camp before they go to sleep away camp! I’m so excited! And just trying to get these last few things done…. but I’m soooo done.
Is it weird or nice to bring a small food gift back from vacation for kiddo’s daycare teachers? I know people don’t always love food gifts and we give cash at holidays and end of year but I thought it might be a nice way to let them know we’re thinking of them and hopefully they or someone in their family could enjoy it. It will be in a sealed bag so I don’t think Covid is an issue.
