My oldest thought this maternity/nursing sweater was cute, and I agree!
This soft sweater has fun balloon sleeves and a front tie that is both stylish and functional. If you’re expecting, adjust the tie to accommodate your growing bump. For easy nursing or pumping access after your baby arrives, just untie.
Ripe Maternity’s Bonnie Tie-Front Sweater is $103. It’s also available at Nordstrom (lucky sizes only).

How different are the wardrobes of your toddler boy vs. girl kids? I’m asking because I have a 4-yo boy and we’re expecting a girl, and I’m wondering if I should be saving his 2T/3T stuff for her or whether it’ll be weird for her to wear boys’ clothes until she’s 2-3. Obviously we’ll let her wear what she wants to a reasonable extent, but just wondering what others have done. We’re not extremely frugal but don’t want to be wasteful either. Thanks!
Does anyone have any tips on talking to my 7 year old (2nd grader)? In the last six months, she’s become “more in her head” about things. Maybe this is just a part of growing up, but she acts a lot more shy in group settings with kids shes known and she’s not as happy and carefree as she used to be in group settings. At school, she seems more self conscious and I dont know how to describe that it feels like she’s just more in a shell. She used to be a little like this when she was like 2-3 but then became VERY outgoing and social in prek, kindergarten, and part of 1st grade. I dont know how to help her or even talk to her or if i should just let her be.. I’m just worried she wont “find her crew” as it was somewhat difficult in the 2nd half of last year as well.
Has anyone had the Mirena IUD removed – what kind of symptoms did you have? I had it removed yesterday and have a terrible headache that Advil won’t touch. Interested to hear in other experiences. Thanks in advance.
On a less down note, we hosted a low key popsicle hang out this weekend for my son’s birthday. Invite said “pop by and chill” and it was only 90 minutes but I had a last minute panic that people were like grumble it wasn’t a real party and be mean to my kid about it. We put out water toys, put the sprinklers on, and fed them otter pops, and everyone had a great time.
Canadians, what brands of ready-to-feed formula are available in your stores? The selection is so limited in the U.S. and the brand of formula we’re planning to buy doesn’t have an RTF for the early days, but I’ve heard it might in other locations. I have a family member crossing the border for vacation close to our due date and I was considering asking her to bring a small pack back, if available.
How are you feeling about where you are in life now?
My career is nowhere near where I thought it would be (I was very ambitious in my 20s). I thought I would have two kids, and ended up with one. I’m pretty happy with where I am, though. Happily married.
I just didn’t know how the world worked when I was younger. I thought that if I worked as hard as I could, I would get what I wanted. It didn’t turn out to be that simple. These days, I steer my kid with the knowledge I gained, and prioritize soft skills.
Looking for favorite kid movies and board games for a 6 and 11 year old. We have lots of time in the afternoons for the next few weeks before school starts and like to do a board game or movie after dinner. Some of their favorite games are catan, carcassone, monopoly, scrabble. Recent movies they loved are all the despicable me, Harold and the purple crayon in theaters, most of the Disney live versions (little mermaid, Aladdin), sing.
