A few products that truly saved me during the newborn days were the Fisher-Price Rock ’n Play, the Fisher-Price swing, and this: the Boppy Lounger. When my son was mobile enough to start rolling, I think I shed a tear when it went to the back of my closet. I think my most googled phrases … Read More about Nursing/Postpartum Tuesday: Newborn Lounger
Makeup & Beauty Monday: One Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer
I’ve recently seen a lot of good reviews for this hair dryer, and I’m dying to see if it lives up to the hype. It reminds me of what every girl had in middle school, the dryer with the brush attached, but (hopefully) updated with better technology. Since having my son, I’ll admit that it’s … Read More about Makeup & Beauty Monday: One Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer
Family Friday: 18” Kids’ Suitcase
This kids’ suitcase is the product of a collaboration between Target and blogger Naomi Davis, who writes about her family’s life at love Taza. They have three kids (and twin newborns!) and they often travel as a family, which is well documented on their blog. It makes sense then that they would collaborate to make … Read More about Family Friday: 18” Kids’ Suitcase
Budget Thursday: V-Neck Blouse with Flounce
Personally, I find it difficult to shop at H&M. I often go into the dressing room with an armful of hangers and leave with nothing. However, the items that I do end up purchasing I wear all the time. This is a great work top — the deep v-neck is flattering without showing too much, … Read More about Budget Thursday: V-Neck Blouse with Flounce
Washable Workwear Wednesday: Rickrack Trim Dress
This is a fun, washable dress for the summer. I like how the color and cut are conservative and professional but the wavy white trim adds some fun and youthfulness to it. The white trim looks like it hits at the smallest point of your torso, which is slimming. Also, the material is linen/cotton, which … Read More about Washable Workwear Wednesday: Rickrack Trim Dress
Accessory Tuesday: 14k Gold Sideways Initial Necklace
I am drawn to initial jewelry and monograms. Maybe it stems from the validated feeling I got as a kid when I found my name in the selection of personalized key chains they sold at gift shops, but I love having things customized. I knew I wanted a piece of jewelry with my son’s initial … Read More about Accessory Tuesday: 14k Gold Sideways Initial Necklace
Maternity Monday: Secret Fit Belly Straight Leg Suiting Pants
When I was pregnant, my mother-in-law generously took me shopping for a few nice maternity pieces. Luckily, most of my maternity wardrobe came in the form of several black garbage bags stuffed to the brim with clothes that were passed around to a few different friends. For work though, I definitely needed some quality pieces, … Read More about Maternity Monday: Secret Fit Belly Straight Leg Suiting Pants
Family Friday: Full Zip Rash Guard
My son received this as a gift and just wore it for the first time last weekend. I am here to sing its praises. I don’t think there has been a time when my child has not screamed when I have tried to put a shirt over his head. It’s worse with rash guards because … Read More about Family Friday: Full Zip Rash Guard
Organizing Thursday: Trofast Storage
When my son was a newborn, I was totally convinced we weren’t going to be those people whose child takes over their house. Now that he’s a toddler, it’s fully happened and I’ve given up trying to stop the inevitable — there are toys and various child-related products everywhere. Right now I’m considering my storage … Read More about Organizing Thursday: Trofast Storage
Washable Workwear Wednesday: Pleat Detail Top
I’ll put this shirt in the category of “great for hiding a new pregnancy at work.” The “draped bubble front” looks like a trendy design choice instead of a maternity shirt. Even someone who isn’t pregnant probably would look a little pregnant in it, which could scare people off from asking questions. I like it … Read More about Washable Workwear Wednesday: Pleat Detail Top
Nursing/Postpartum Tuesday: Miracle Blanket
Sleep is very important to me. I could probably write a novel on the pros and cons of every type of swaddle I’ve tried — and it would be a long novel. Our baby really, really loved being swaddled, as most do, but was also very talented at escaping them. The one that lasted the … Read More about Nursing/Postpartum Tuesday: Miracle Blanket
Makeup & Beauty Monday: Makeup Sponge & Brush Cleaner
When I was about 16, I had a birthday sleepover party and invited an acquaintance who I was only somewhat friends with. Well, it turned out this girl’s mom worked at a Yves Saint Laurent makeup counter, and this acquaintance gifted me an amazingly gorgeous set of YSL makeup brushes. When I opened them I was all, “meh” (teens!), but when I showed them to my mom she started drooling, and I gave her a few of them and started using the rest. To this day, I am STILL using them. I use this makeup brush cleanser after being given a sample in a Birchbox. A little goes a long way and it lasts forever. I know we are all probably guilty of not washing our makeup brushes enough, but buying a product specifically for that purpose has definitely increased the frequency with which I wash them. The cleaner is $18 at Amazon and is eligible for Prime. Beautyblender Makeup Sponge and Brush Cleaner
