Did ballet flats ever go away?
If you’re looking to refresh your collection, these classic leather flats come in a rainbow of colors.
Ballerette’s Colona flats, which are made in Italy, have a round toe, low 0.5 cm heel, and cotton lining. They’re trimmed with grosgrain ribbon and an adjustable cotton waxed string. Wear them with everything from jeans to flowy dresses.
These shoes are $179 and come in 20 colors. They’re available in whole sizes US5-IT35 to US13-IT43.

Can someone help me get over the mindset that my 2.9 year old “can’t handle” certain outings so we just shouldn’t bother?
She’s my second. Oldest is 8. We have tickets to two indisputably kid-centered things – an afternoon MLB game that is literally a particular game branded FOR KIDS and the Savannah Bananas (coincidence both are baseball but there are other examples). She’s a strong willed toddler, which I know makes everything a little more challenging if she’s having an off day. She’s not one to just totally tantrum… more so just not listen/get extra silly, aka frustrating for mom and dad. But I caught myself on my ride to work coming up with a list alternative people/cousins/friends to take to the games, which would inevitably cause a parent to miss out and hang back (or we could get a sitter I guess). But, these are kid things. She has to learn to function in the world. Other people bring their toddlers places. I just have this mental block that since she’s going to make it harder we should revise plans or just not go.
Another example: we want to take 8 year old to the JFK Library (we’re in Boston). Midday on a Saturday in summer will be very busy and will have lots of kids. It’s not a “kid-centric place” necessarily, but I should take her, right? I just argue myself out of doing a lot of things b/c 8 year old wants to do stuff as a family, and then I somehow end up rationalizing that 2 yr old will ruin it or just be too challenging so we don’t do the thing. BTW, except for one particularly bad flight at 22 months, she hasn’t really ruined anything.
Wonder if this is in part because my 8 year old didn’t really go out at this age thanks to Covid…
Normal? Not normal? Thanks for letting me brain dump.
I stumbled on some MAHA influencer and went down a rabbit hole of her content for 30 minutes – man, it’s bold to proclaim all the things your kids will NEVER do and speak about “taking charge of your fertility” via sponsored content when you don’t even have kids yet. I’m all for having goals and an idea of how you want to raise kids one day, but this was full on “I’m a perfect parent, I just don’t have kids yet.” Why are these people so influential?
I’m normally not wistful about birthdays but this birthday feels different! 9 is halfway through childhood. And it’s such a perfect age.
We had a sushi lunch and he seemed pleased with his presents (a pile of graphic novels, dixit expansions, and camping gear). The aunties, neighbours and a school pal are coming round for smitten kitchen olive oil cake with raspberry filling.
