A washable coat is always wise to wear around young children, whose fingers are often decorated with food, craft materials, or mystery substances, but no matter how old your kids are, washable outerwear will save you time and money on dry cleaning. Today on Corporette, we featured our picks on coats for the office, and over here, we were due for an update on the best machine washable winter coats.

The Best Machine Washable Winter Coats

The North Face

The North Face is always a reliable source of washable winter coats, with its outdoorsy styles and signature puffy jackets. This quilted winter coat is from their ThermoBall line, which contains 100% post-consumer recycled polyester fill. In fact, this entire coat is made from recycled content — and as part of the brand’s Circular Design initiative, it’s designed to be recycled at the end of its life by the company itself.

Temperature-rated at the midpoint of the brand’s “warm” to “warmest” scale, this insulated, water-repellent, and wind-resistant coat’s features include an adjustable waist and hood, two-way front zip with chin guard, and zip side pockets. It’s packable, able to fit into a pocket.

This coat is $280 and available in standard sizes XXS-XXL (in light blue, a light olive green, black, navy, and winter white) and plus sizes 1X-3X (in navy and black).

Lands’ End

Lands’ End is another great place to get washable winter coats, along with excellent sale prices. This coat is available in four size ranges and 10+ colors, and it’s a convenient packable style, fitting into one of its pockets.

This hooded coat is lightweight but cozy with a fitted silhouette, and it’s filled with HyperDry down, which is designed to keep you warm if it gets wet. The down also meets the Responsible Down Standard, which signifies more humane treatment of ducks and geese. The water-resistant coat is rated “warmer” on the brand’s scale for comfort (7 to 32 degrees F) and has zipper pockets, a full zip with a storm flap, and a nylon shell.

The coat is $199.95 full price — but currently on sale for $165.99 — and comes in regular, petite, tall, and plus, with almost all sizes in stock. The many color choices include everything from black to lilac to forest green.

Eddie Bauer

Eddie Bauer may not be the first place you think of regarding winter coats, but they always have nice options for cold weather. Their Girl on the Go waterproof trench is a classic, bestselling style from the brand, and it features some recent updates in response to customer requests. The website notes that this style is now less fitted (though it has princess seams) and has a more comfortable hood.

This coat is waterproof and windproof but still designed to be breathable. The design includes zip side pockets (plus one inside), a two-way zipper with a flap to keep out cold air, and a hood that’s adjustable and removable.

Priced at $149, the coat is currently on sale for $74.50 and available in four size ranges: regular, petite, tall, and plus. It comes in the pictured aubergine (which looks darker on my screen) as well as black and a rich blue.

Soia & Kyo

If you’re looking for something a bit more interesting — and a bit more upscale — the Brandy quilted down jacket from Soia & Kyo is a perfect pick. The combination of the crossover collar, asymmetrical zip, and peplum-esque bottom make it especially striking. Plus, the brand offers a generous two-year warranty against defects.

The slim-fit Brandy coat is water-repellent and filled with a blend of 90% responsibly sourced, hi-loft down and 10% feathers, giving it a temperature rating of 41 degrees F. It has hidden zip pockets and is packable into the included bag.

The coat is $325 full price and available in sizes XXS-XL in both teak and black. (If you’re gift shopping, note that the return window for purchases made from November 26 to December 21 is extended to January 4, 2026.)

Modern Eternity Maternity

Ann recently featured this washable maternity coat in one of her morning posts, and we had to highlight it here as a maternity option. This 3-in-1 coat from Modern Eternity Maternity is designed to fit you during your pregnancy as well as postpartum while you’re wearing your baby. Outside of pregnancy, simply remove the insert panel for a closer fit.

The lightweight coat features water-resistant fabric, an adjustable drawstring waist, and down fill to keep you warm this winter.

This maternity coat is $225 at Nordstrom and available in maternity sizes XS-XL in black, dark green, winter white, and navy.
