Today officially begins my least favorite season of the year: the time when my husband’s financial anxiety becomes most extreme. He feels poor and does not want to spend money, but he also wants to give me the perfect Christmas gift. Whenever I respond to his questions about what I want, he says it’s too expensive. When I tell him I don’t want anything he sulks and feels even poorer. Around Christmas he always has some sort of blowup about how much the kids’ gifts cost, and you can see the cash register in his brain going while the gifts are being opened on Christmas morning. It’s even worse than usual this year because he’s finally decided that our crumbling house and grad school furniture are awful and we need to move or renovate and buy all new furniture, but he thinks we can’t afford it. We officially kicked off the season this morning with his complaint at the cost of having the carpets cleaned. Tomorrow he is certain to complain about the cost of dinner. Happy holidays. Bleh.
Tips for going back to work from maternity leave? I go back Monday. I have a nanny coming in, so at least I won’t have to drop off baby at daycare. What should I do this weekend to prepare?
And I know this will vary, but how do I morning? DH leaves earlier than I’ll have to. Baby usually wakes up shortly after DH leaves, then I’ll have 30-60 minutes before nanny arrives (depending on when baby wakes up). Thanks!
Bra recommendations for ever-changing sizes? I’m weaning/ed. My nursing bras are too big and bulky but my normal bras are too small. My sports bras are either too small or give me uniboob. I’ll get resized once I’m officially weaned and my period comes back, but I need something with shape to wear to work until then. Preferably something with decent padding in case I leak a couple of drops. I was a 38D before pregnancy. Help and thanks!
