How cute are these mushroom-shaped rattles from Itzy Ritzy?
These two cheerful rattles are designed with little hands in mind. They also fit easily into your diaper bag for noisy on-the-go fun. They’re great for introducing your baby to music and developing their coordination.
A set of two rattles (one with rattle beads and one with a jingle ball) is available at Amazon for under $10.
Psst: Looking for info about nursing clothes for working moms or tips for pumping at the office? We’ve got them both…

has anyone done a trip to morocco with kids and can tell me their itinerary? considering for spring break (post ramadan)
I am ready to pull out my hair. About a year ago, I gave up a senior position to take a job with what I thought was my dream org. I understood it to be a transition from directing projects to being a senior individual contributor, but it turned out to be a huge demotion to a junior level where I am treated worse than the grad students. From the outside the org’s staff appear highly competent, but now that I can see the details of the work it’s obvious that they have serious gaps in their understanding of the field and their methods. I am a nationally recognized expert in this field, but no one will listen to me. I know I need to get a new job, but my skills are highly specialized and the field has been decimated by federal funding cuts so I’ll have to pick up some new skills and figure out how to market myself in the for-profit world. I am so frustrated.
We’ll be in Ithaca, NY for a wedding next summer. Taking our then 2 and 5 year old. Since we’re flying in from the Midwest, is there anything nearby that’s worth turning into a week long vacation?
It’s slow today! I’ll ask a question…anyone have recommendations for chapter books with a sense of humor? My 9yo says she likes books that are “sometimes funny” — all the Percy Jackson/Rick Riordan books, a series called Katie Kazoo about a third-grader who gets into various mishaps, a series called “Myth-o-Mania” that is funny retellings of Greek myths.
What else is funny for fourth-graders? She’s read all the Dogman books but does not like Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Quiet day! Can I ask what your school policies are on HFM? My 4yo has a mild case (maybe 10 blisters on his hands, some on feet, none on face), no fever, acting normal. I kept him home Monday and told the school the reason and they just replied “hope he feels better!”, with no directives about returning. He’s off today for the holiday, but I’m thinking I’ll send him Wednesday? He’s currently on day 4 since the spots appeared.
I know it can be serious for babies, and I’m cognizant of siblings, but in my experience it’s generally a whole lot of nothing for preK and older kids, nothing a little Tylenol for discomfort can’t handle.
Any suggestions for a visit to Philly with elementary age kids? We have a family wedding there on Saturday night. We also have a welcome dinner on Friday and a post-wedding brunch on Sunday so I’m not sure how much time we’ll have for exploring but would love recommendations in case we have time. I got tickets for Independence Hall on Friday afternoon (the tour seems super short?) and was thinking of doing the Franklin Institute on Saturday morning/early afternoon.
