Yard games have moved beyond badminton and horseshoes. This game set takes a popular “4-in-a-row” game outside. This large wooden version comes with 42 chips.
I can see whiling away summer evenings with the whole family trying to get four in a row, and the glee of releasing all the chips.
This Mega 4-In-A-Row game is $110 at Saks Fifth Avenue. (This “Smiley” version is on sale on Sunnylife.com for $77.) Here’s another option at Amazon.

Ok, I’ve heard of college tours, but summer camp tours are a thing now?! I know multiple people who are touring summer camps this summer in anticipation of sending their kids in 2024. I assumed you just…picked one and sent your kids. Or sent your kids to the one you or your spouse went to. Is it really that big a decision?

They are in my area (Boston burbs). We have friends that do 4 or 8 week camps and the tours are really marketing things. Maybe a bit for nervous kids who need to see a place first? These camps cost like $15-20k so I think it helps parents feel better about sending them.
FWIW my kid is going to 2 weeks of sleepaway camp and we didn’t do a tour. Just picked and signed up. She’ll be fine!

Every Girl Scout and Y camp I’ve ever attended or sent my kid to has had an open house at the beginning of the summer, primarily to make nervous parents and kids more comfortable. I’ve never heard of a camp open house for marketing purposes. However, this year I have noticed camps that used to fill up very quickly engaging in some aggressive last-minute marketing, as if they are having trouble filling spots. This surprises me because in 2022 and 2023 I’ve been especially eager to send my kid to camp because she missed out on two years and who knows what next summer will be like. I assumed that other parents would feel the same and demand for camps would surge just as it has for travel in general, but apparently not.
