I know readers are big fans of faux-wrap dresses for pumping, so I set out to look for a faux-wrap top that looked pumping-friendly. These from Macy’s looked nice (and also machine washable), but of course I loved the color of this one from Chaus. The top is $49 at Amazon. Just weighing in to say how grateful I am for the C-moms s i t e. I’ve been a ‘R e t t e reader for years, but this little corner of the internet is a welcome addition to my blogroll. Thanks to Kat for undertaking this new space in 2014 and to all of you who make it a fun and interesting place to hang out.

So this morning I had to set up a 7:30am conference call with my client and the other side and their counsel. It was too early to try and juggle me getting out of the house. I told DH to keep our toddler out of the home office and away from me (and he had the freedom to do so this morning). As I’m dialing in, the toddler opens the office door while crying, so my “‘Name’ has joined the conference” is the sound of a crying baby. Sigh. It would be funny if it weren’t so mortifying.

This happens to me all the time. I work from home a lot (frequently with a nanny here, but sometimes things come up last minute and I have to be on an unplanned call when she’s not here). My colleagues and I joke about it now. I usually manage to avoid this problem with clients or opposing counsel on the line because I can plan those calls farther in advance, but internal calls, oh well.
FVNC says
Oh that sucks! If it makes you feel any better, last week I had to take an early morning call with some higher up clients (internal only, though) before taking my toddler to daycare. Husband was not home, so kiddo had to hang out in my office so I could supervise her. And by “hang out,” I mean take everything off the bottom two shelves of book shelf (loudly), bang on the printer (loudly), babble to herself (loudly), and smack toys together (loudly). God only knows what the other folks on the phone thought was going on in my office…

Ha! Last year we had a big snowstorm and my daughter’s daycare was closed for a week. During that time, I had a few conference calls with a particularly cranky client. During the most important one, my toddler decided to moo every time I spoke. My husband was stuck somewhere else because of the storm shop I had no backup. Both embarrassing and hilarious.
FVNC says
Hilarious. Thanks for the laugh.
ANP says
I’m laughing SO HARD at the stories on this thread! Think of how empathetic we’ll all be when our kids are grown and we hear a mooing toddler on a conference call.

Love these stories.
I can’t recall exactly how it happened (working remotely, baby on my lap, must have opened an email then gotten distracted for a second), but one of my kids as an older infant sent a banging-on-the-keyboard email message out to a listserv. ::face palm:: Luckily it was internal only and only about 2 dozen people who know me.
WAH = STRESS says
I’m the OP; thanks for the stories. “[Crying baby] has joined the conference” is funny to me now, but still embarrassing (and more annoying that DH could not follow the ONE instruction to keep baby out during my call, meanwhile you all know how many things moms regularly multitask…) The juggle is tough!
ANP says
Just b/c I laughed at this doesn’t mean you don’t have my sympathy! I’ve been there: you want to strangle your spouse while also needing a complete do-over on the last 30 seconds, and you can’t blow up b/c CLIENTS. Big hugs to you.

Gave birth ten days ago via c-section.
Basically don’t have much time right now and would love to avoid doctor appointments for me if I can.
I’m experiencing shooting, intense pain in my left hip type area sometimes when starting to stand up or getting up suddenly. It doesn’t appear to be coming from my c-section area. Any idea what this pain could be about? Completely new pain for me, other than the c-section/pregnancy no medical issues.
Friends have suggested a gall bladder problem- I don’t think that could be it though who knows.
MomAnon4This says
Call the doctor and ask – they probably won’t be able to get you an appointment for another month or so, anyway, when you’re feeling more like yourself. Or go n ow while family members (hopefully) are still hanging arounmd and can drive you.
eh230 says
Don’t know if you are still reading but it could just be that your body parts are adjusting both from being moved around during the c-section and from your uterus contracting back down to normal size. Things shift around a lot. I would see if things feel better in a few days, and if not, call the doctor.

Oh, I’d forgotten about the post-partum cramping. That could be part of it.
Also, how’s your digestive tract doing? Surgery/pain meds/no sleep/stress/diet can cause gas and constipation Those, in turn, can cause pain in that area.
Burgher says
I had pretty bad shooting hip pains at various points both during pregnancy and after with all the ligaments relaxing and then coming back together.
