Around what week (or month) did you ladies make the jump over to maternity pants? I’m only 9 weeks, so definitely don’t need them yet, especially since it’s my first preg, and I have a very long torso (complimented by wide-calved stubby legs, so I’m not exactly “tall”!).
In terms of my favorite maternity trouser silhouette, skinny wins hands down — but it’s rarely work appropriate for me. So I stick to wide-leg or bootcut most of the time. Love these pants!
Oooh, I like these! I love tweed pants. I haven’t bought any maternity work pants since I’m in law school and don’t need to dress for work every day. I’ve gotten by with dresses/tights/unbuttoned blazers for conferences and clinic meetings.
On another clothing note, I went to the mall this weekend to try to find some new bras. I’m still pretty much the same size in the third trimester as in first trimester, when I went from an A to almost a B (big news around here) but the stretchy lined bralets I’ve been wearing aren’t fitting quite right. Thought I would check out Nordstrom’s nursing bra selection and was informed they only carry size DD+ in store. As for now-bras, I was pretty much relegated to the training bra department. Sigh. I’ve since ordered a coobie and a bravado from amazon. Never thought I would say this, but I’m looking forward to wearing regular underwire bras again…
I find that the panel on Loft pants is very tight. Some may like the increased support, but for me, it’s overly constricting. It does have a nice smooth surface, though, which makes tops glide over it better than the panels from, say, Motherhood. And the pants themselves are closer to regular pants than many cheapo poly maternity “dress” pants.
I’m not sure this is any help, because I’m pretty sure my favorite “maternity” pants are 7+ years old, but I have a couple pair of NY and Co pants with an elastic waist that I bought way back when I first got a big-girl job. They’re some kind of knit material and heavier and warmer than any reasonably priced maternity options I’ve seen. Obviously this depends on how you’re carrying, but I just leave the waistband sitting below the bump (I’m wearing a pair today, so they still work at 36 weeks!) and I don’t find it any less comfortable than any other maternity pants. In fact, they’re kind of sweatpant-adjacent in feel, which I love. And machine-washable.
