After our recent trip to Denmark, I realized I need to cut the amount of stuff we pack. These compression sacks from REI work for both camping and more urban adventures.
These sacks are made from durable rip-stop fabric and are water repellent. They come in three sizes for all your packing needs. They’re perfect for packing soft items like socks, underwear, and sweaters. Now, there will be more room for souvenirs!
These compression sacks are $21.95 to $26.95 at REI, depending on the size.

Ideas on things to do with a toddler over the weekend while we are stuck inside due to wildfire smoke?
Meg says
Build an indoor obstacle course. Record kid going through it. Time kid going through it. Watch recordings.

I’m not really an activity planner, but BusyToddler has a lot of good ideas. Build a car track with tape, animal parade, popsicle bath, glow stick bath, and give your toys a bath all come to mind. If you only have one, some light baking might be fun? It will be messy and take twice as long as it usually does. We also watch a lot of tv when we can’t go outside. Old cartoons, music videos and train videos are popular with my toddlers. I also take my kids to the grocery store with me if we’re all really bored. Good luck.

-movies/TV
-calls with friends/family
-reading
-Cookie baking or homemade pizza making (or cookie decorating if you’re lazy or don’t want to use the oven)
-Outings to children’s museums, library, indoor playground, indoor pool, trampoline park or soft play place
-Taking kids to grocery store or Target while you run errands
-obstacle course made with furniture (a huge hit with my kid when she was 1.5-2ish… she called it “ob stob”)
-Simple pretend play like school or “night night”
-Keepy Uppy with balloons
-dance parties
-long baths
-having them “help” with chores
-sorting crayons or markers into same color cups (or replace with other household objects) …toddlers love sorting and matching.
