Is anyone using chatgpt regularly? I use it daily at work to draft emails, brainstorm, and research (I know its limitations and fact-check it). The possibilities seem endless.
It’s certainly exciting to feel like we’re on the brink of the next big advancement but definitely also scary.
Just curious if others on the board are using it regularly.

We’ve used it a little bit at work, including to resolve a coding error. I’m worried that people at my company will plagiarize, though. We already had one “incident” (pre-ChatGPT) that revealed that some people either never learned or chose to disregard basic rules about plagiarism. It was so bad that the woman who did it would’ve certainly been fired if she hadn’t already given her notice.

Not as regularly as I probably should. A big part of my job is exec communication and I use it a lot for “how to explain x in layman’s terms”

I do this. I also have it draft first drafts of mundane (mass) emails. I rarely use the content but it is simpler than googling for a template.
I also use it for another way to say (whatever).

No but I will probably start. I observed some younger (much younger) colleagues using it to check code this week and that would be super helpful for me. I need to play around with it this weekend.

My firm has affirmatively instructed us not to use if because of client confidentiality and privilege concerns. It is a great shame, but in many respects I understand their position.

Yeah, I work in cybersecurity and it’s an uphill battle trying to get people to understand that everything you put in there is being used to train the model and we don’t have great insight into who can see it or how the data is secured. I twitch every time I see an article about chatgpt productivity hacks that says “get it to summarize long documents for you!” For the love of everything, do not have chatgpt summarize an internal document, especially one with any sensitive info.

This is important! I don’t put anything confidential in ever.

I just posted this link in reply to a comment on my Corporette post about planning a vacation with AI chatbots: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2023/04/14/upshot/up-ai-uses.html It lists 35 ways that people are using AI for work, hobbies, etc.

Just a happy Friday afternoon PSA to parents of babies and toddlers that it really does get easier. :) I have my 5 year old home with me this afternoon and it’s like night and day from 2020 lockdown with a 2 year old (which I think I still have low grade PTSD from). It’s not interruption free, but I am mostly working while she plays alone and she even put the dog out in the yard for me when the dog started barking.
