At the end of the day, my stairs are littered with jackets, stray crayons, and abandoned toys. I need some stair baskets to corral the chaos.
These woven baskets are designed to slot right onto your stairs. They’re roomy enough to fill with everything that needs to go upstairs or downstairs in one trip — they even have handles for easy carrying. Woven from rattan and seagrass, they’re both attractive and durable (and opaque enough to hide the clutter).
These baskets from Pottery Barn are $129. Here’s another option from Amazon with a different handle style.

Funny kid stories for the weekend?
We’ve been trying to work with our newly 5 year old on reading, and it’s very reminiscent of the Friends episode where Joey tries to speak French. She knows the individual sounds just fine, but when she trys to put it all together it becomes complete gibberish, a la “Jeh…muh…pell… jeh muh pell… je m’appelle!… me poo poo!” We’re not concerned or anything, reading is not at all expected at the start of K here, but it is very hilarious.

I’m en route home after 3 days away and T dressed up as “king of the animals” and asked dad to send me a photo.
Also he’s getting too smart for his own good. I told him I’d come check him in 5 and he called me in “it’s been 5 minutes, I counted to 60 5 times…”

My three year old is doing this thing on weekends where he doesn’t want to do an activity we suggest (like, going to the park) so we decide to move on and do something else, but then hours later he’ll insist it’s time to go to the park now, but by that point it’s dinner time or bedtime so we can’t go. Is this just something we need to work through? Any tips?

It sounds like he’s using it as a stall tactic to avoid activities he doesn’t like, like bedtime. It’s totally normal). The 3 year old brain is thinking “they brought up the park so they must be pretty enthusiastic about it, maybe if I say I want to go there, they’ll let me out of [dinner/bedtime/thing I don’t want to do]” (not in so many words, but you get the idea). I wouldn’t think too much about this, just say you’re not going to the park right now because it’s bedtime but you can go [tomorrow/next weekend/insert reasonable time] and move on.

+1. He’s testing the limits of his control. Totally normal, just reply and move on. And if there’s an activity you want to do in the afternoon, don’t give him the choice and just go do it, because he might also be in a contrary phase
