In my quest to use less single-use plastic, these collapsible silicone containers (gifted to me from my mom — thanks, Mom!) have become my MVP.
This set comes with four different sizes for every need. I’ve used them for lunches, leftovers, and even as to-go boxes for meals out. We use them all the time for travel — fill them with airplane snacks and collapse them when done; they slide right into your suitcase. They’re even microwave-, freezer-, and dishwasher-safe.
These collapsible food storage containers are available at Amazon.

We have dinner reservations for my birthday tomorrow, but our babysitter canceled due to illness. DH’s coworker said her 12-year old daughter can do it and coworker will help. We will have to drop DS off at their house and he will be there for a couple hours. He has never met them. What can I do to make this go smoothly?

nice of her to save the day! bring a favorite toy, lovey and/or a couple books. make sure he’s well fed and naps. then just show up early so you have time to sit and play side-by-side with the 12 year old for a minute while he gets used to the idea. if he seems fine and happy, make a swift exit.
happy birthday!
