Fall is my favorite season! I especially love all things pumpkin (yes, including pumpkin spice everything!). These cute pumpkin pillows are just what my living room needs for Halloween and beyond.
These festive pillows are made from cozy teddy bear-style fabric and have a twine-wrapped stem. Add them to your couch or even your bedroom for a seasonal update.
These pillows are $35.50 (for the smaller ivory one) and $49.50 (for the larger tobacco one).
Note: The pillows are low in stock and may sell out, so here’s another option from Pottery Barn: an indoor/outdoor pumpkin pillow that’s on clearance for $54.99.

Has anyone dealt with eczema past the baby stage? My 4-year-old son’s legs and crotch are constantly red, splotchy, and yucky even after he’s potty trained.
Anon says
My kid gets patches of eczema (not in the diaper region though). We got a prescription steroid cream that clears it right up.

Go see your pediatrician. They can give you medication and good advice. Worth it.

Just seeing this but my 4.5 year old battled it until maybe 6 months ago. She did outgrow it eventually but it was
Awful. FWIW she got it in summers not winter.
We had Rx steroids and if we didn’t slather her with aquaphor nightly she immediately broke out. Even then we had to use way more of the steroid than I liked. I’m so glad she finally kicked it (mostly, one toe is still a little dry in summer).

Dal is my favorite season too! On that note, I’m headed to Vermont this week with my almost 5 year old. Any tips for things to do with little kids? We’re flying into and out of Burlington and staying in Woodstock but we’ll have a car so anything in the general region of those two cities or in between is of interest.

Fall*!

This might be out of your way, but Pastime Pinball in Manchester Vermont is awesome. Two floors of pinball machines. You pay admission and can play as much as you want. My kids (10, 5, and 2) could have spent all day there.

Ben & Jerry’s factory is so fun!

Off topic, but now we’re getting Indian takeout for dinner. :)

LOL, I was like, huh, I dont think dal has a season?
Shelburne is in between and has a wonderful massive educational farm (Shelburne Farms) where you can ride on a tractor pull, walk the sheep, feed the chickens, watch cheese making, etc. Loads of hiking trails with views of Lake Champlain– highly recommend!

Hahaha glad I could help with dinner! 🤣 I was wondering how that autocorrect came about because I don’t write about dal the food very much I don’t think. But then I remembered that I’m doing Italian on Duolingo and it’s a common preposition in that language.

just left that area! go to Shelburne Farms in VT – the grounds are beautiful and it’s like a big petting zoo.
we also did a bunch of mini hikes / short walks down to the Mad River as my kiddo loves to throw rocks in the water. also Warren falls is beautiful too.

Where do I look for first trimester / postpartum dress pants? I’m striking out at the usual suspects (Target, Old Navy, Gap, Loft, Macys). I’m looking for straight or bootcut or wide leg (not skinny) low or side belly band in simple black pants, and I am short. Old Navy has some options but they stopped carrying short length in maternity from what I can tell. I’m at a point where my normal pants are just not comfortable in the belly without unzipping them but definitely not ready for the full panel (I’m super short waisted). Any suggestions?
Seafinch says
Honestly, I just give up on pants at this phase. I can’t wear maternity before second trimester and also don’t like waist bands, so dresses is it! The phase is only a few weeks long. I did wear my regular Lulu 7/8 pants and the wide leg one until about 13-14 weeks. I am in maternity clothes now at 16 weeks.
Anon says
I know, this is my answer in general too but I have work stuff where dresses just don’t work (lots of walking involving stairs and even ladders, which is going to be its own challenge soon as my balance gets iffy). And of course I have three work trips with this stuff before I even hit 16 weeks.
If I may whine for a moment, this is my second first tri this year (first pregnancy failed at 15 weeks) and I’m so annoyed with doing the mail order roulette all over again (first one resulted in fantastic pajama pants but nothing else). I just want to go to a store and be done but I don’t have much to pick from around where I live.

The maternity specialty stores will have more options. Pea in the Pod, Motherhood Maternity, etc

These pants have been my first tri lifesaver: https://www.target.com/p/women-s-high-rise-slim-straight-fit-ankle-pull-on-pants-a-new-day/-/A-85665309?preselect=85630499#lnk=sametab
Thy don’t come in short but are not long – maybe would work?
Anon says
These look perfect! Thank you – ordering!
Anon says
Ugh, they don’t have any of these in my smallish town – do you know how the online return policy is at these?
Anonymous says
Not ideal, but I hated the full panel pants and would fold the panel over throughout my pregnancy. Belly bands were designed for your exact situation but they never felt secure to me. For 1st tri and postpartum you might check out some of the elastic-waist non-maternity pants from places like Athleta.
