We’ve been doing a lot of picnics this summer and this picnic blanket from Old Navy makes things a bit more comfortable.
This quilted blanket folds into itself and has a handle for toting around. The back is also water resistant in case the grass is wet. But, if it gets a little muddy (or you drop your chicken salad on it), just throw it in the machine.
I find that we can fit our family of four on this blanket. However, given the price, I’m tempted to buy another one so we can spread out a bit more.
This patterned picnic blanket is on sale at Old Navy for $15.97 — with an extra 30% off at checkout.

Bottle trouble says
My three month old baby will not take a bottle, we tried Dr Brown, Comotomo, and now Lansinoh. Any tips?

If you’re willing to try another brand, try the Evenflo wide mouth (glass).
If your child has a bottle aversion, or you think they do, read Rowena Bennett’s book (e book available) on bottle aversion. It sounds homey but her method works. Basically the premise is to let the baby lead and never force the bottle. Good luck! (My kiddo didn’t take it until 5 months due to an aversion).

If you’re using pumped milk, check to make sure you don’t have a lipase issue.
Try different temperatures. My picky one would only take a bottle very warm.
After trying a million bottles, we did best with the Medela bottles that came with the pump. We could give them a little squeeze to squirt some milk and get the hunger cues to kick in.
Lots of folks suggest having the nursing mom gone, but we had better luck with me starting with nursing and popping her off and straight onto a bottle. We did it the first time when she was sleepy and she didn’t even seem to notice. She also seemed to associate mom with eating. We eventually got her comfortable with the bottle with a rather extensive transition.
Good luck. It’s not a fun problem.

Have you tried a faster flow nipple? My 3mo needed a level 2 (I think because I have a strong letdown and so that’s what he was used to).
Also, agreed on trying different people. My first bottle skeptic finally learned from his grandmother. My second finally learned from me. My poor husband is 0 for 2.

+1 to trying a faster flow. Ped insisted that bf-ing babies should only use slow flow, but in my kid’s case, that was definitely not the case (and contributed to terrible reflux because she was taking in so much air from sucking so hard – she started refusing a bottle because it made her so uncomfortable).

+1 also have fast letdown and my three month old refused bottle until we switched to faster flow nipples.

+3 I had a bottle refusing baby and in hindsight I think this was the problem. I know I had a strong letdown.

My birthday is this week and my husband planned a surprise all day outing today. Even lined up childcare for our toddler so we could go by ourselves. Super rare and thoughtful for him.
Of course, I tested positive for covid this morning. I feel terrible about it. He was look forward to surprising me and I know he’s bummed.
I obviously need to isolate from him and kiddo for a while.
Suggestions something I can do for him?
EDAnon says
I don’t think you need to do anything for him. It’s your birthday! But it would be nice to be super supportive and helpful in finding a time to reschedule it.
Maybe you could order in some fun food and still try to make it a fun day, but in a different way.
