My oldest has gotten into journaling — and this colorful gratitude journal would make a great gift.
The “Happy Confident Me” Daily Journal has prompts to promote a gratitude and growth mindset. It encourages your child to reflect on their feelings, good things that happened during the day, and something they are proud of.
Through 10 weeks of journaling, kids will gain confidence and improve their understanding of themselves.
This journal is available at Amazon for under $10.

What are some outdoor games to play with approximately 15 four year olds at DS’ birthday party? It will be at a park. There will be time for free play too of course, just want 2 or 3 organized games, like Duck Duck Goose. Don’t want to have to corral them into teams like a gym teacher, just want some easy games that four year olds can play without too much instruction. Won’t emphasize winners and losers or anything. I may also get a large parachute for another activity.

I bought cheap party hats and stickers for kids to decorate. It was intended for younger siblings but was a huge hit with everyone.

We did this at my daughter’s 5th birthday this year, and it was also a huge hit. I would also recommend bubbles for an outdoor party.
As for organized games, maybe pin the tail on the donkey?

My daughter is also weirdly obsessed with hot potato lately. That could work too.

Sharks and Minnows (also called Fishy Fishy Cross My Ocean/ Ships Across the Ocean).
Night at the Museum.
The hula-hoop game in which you all hold hands and have to pass a hula-hoop along the row of kids without letting go of each other’s hands. Less great if kids have yet to learn body boundaries.
River and Bank: lay down a jump rope or chalk a line on the ground. One side is the river, the other side is the bank, you call out ‘river’, ‘bank’, or ‘bridge’ (one foot on each side). You can go faster and faster, or add in new instructions like ‘upstream’ and ‘downstream’ (face forward, backward) till everyone falls over in a giggling heap.
Hot Potato with a beanbag (little hands might have trouble with a soccer ball). Variant: Hot Potato Soup – draw a circle in the center. When you are ‘out’, sit in the circle. When the circle gets crowded enough, you become mashed potatoes…
Bubble machine session. No game, just turn on the bubble machine. This is consistently a hit with kids of all ages, just watch for kids trying to get to the bubble machine and tip it over.
