Since becoming a mom, a zipper (or something similarly easy) is essential for shoes — it seems like I’m always running out the door with the kids and throwing on my own shoes as an afterthought. These casual booties have AMAZING reviews at Zappos and Nordstrom, come in a bunch of nice colors (we’re featuring the burgundy over at Corporette) and, huzzah, have a zipper. Nice. They’re $110 at Zappos, Nordstrom, and Amazon. ‘Kerri’ BootieSales of note for 12/30:

Any advice on dealing with shortness of breath in the third trimester? I’m 32 weeks and I cannot WAIT to be able to take a deep breath again post-pregnancy. Some days I’m okay and other days, like today, it’s really challenging.
It’s my first pregnancy (well technically second since I miscarried last time) and I think I’m driving myself crazy. I’m only 6.5 weeks so nausea comes, and also some cramping, but every time i feel a cramp or don’t feel nauseous i’m nervous that there is something wrong. I had an ultrasound earlier this week and another one scheduled for a week from today, but any suggestions to keep my mind at bay until then? I called the doctor and they told me that it can be totally normal for pregnancy to come and go, but I’m like scared to go to the bathroom for fear I’ll see blood. How do I stop obsessing? A week from now seems like a very long time…. They said I can come in for the ultrasound earlier next week, but my husband is out of town for work
I feel goofy buying maternity clothes because I’m only 14 weeks, but I’m b**b-ing out of all my shirts, bras, dresses and am just starting to show.
Before pregnancy, I was a size 12 and curvy/hourglass. My work wardrobe consisted pretty much exclusively of sheath dresses that were (appropriately tailored) form fitting. Many don’t fit any more, and the few blouses I have barely fit across my chest (belly band is helping my work pants situation for the time being).
What’s the best strategy for buying clothes, bras, etc? Should I just size up for a while? Bite the bullet and buy some maternity stuff? I’m striking out/overwhelmed. Would love to avoid spending tons of money on a new wardrobe, but I’m not sure what the best alternative is, if any.
My mom is staying with us to watch the kiddos and I am going on an all-day date with my husband for the first time in two years. I have NO clothes for this. I have work clothes for a formal office (navy suits/pantyhose), yoga pants, and law school sweatshirts.
We are going to have brunch, go to a museum, walk around, have drinks at a very fancy bar, and then late dinner at a more casual restaurant. Weather in the high 60s. I have time today to pop out to a Rent the Runway store or a Nordstrom or a Target. What do I buy?
Willing to spend some $$ since we don’t have to pay a babysitter (thanks Mom!) and I would like my husband to remember that I am an actual human woman rather than a lawyer/mother automaton.
