Light blue Johnny Collar Shirt and Shorts Set for toddlers

I love gifting (and getting) clothing sets like this one because no one has to figure out which top to put with which bottom.

Modern Moments by Gerber’s 100% cotton tee and short set is perfect for warm spring days ahead! The light, breathable fabric is gentle on skin, and the elastic waistband guarantees all day comfort. It’s available in four neutral colors that any parent can appreciate.

This shirt and short set is $18.99 at Nordstrom and comes in sizes 2T-5T.

The parents in my district just received a strange email from our district’s director of nutrition saying that they are reintroducing chocolate milk because: “Milk consumption across the district has been at an alarmingly low rate. K-12 students should drink milk regularly as it is an effective way to consume adequate protein, vitamin D, and calcium. We hope that offering flavored milk again will encourage students to drink more milk and thus receive the nutritional benefits.”

There was nothing more to the email. I really don’t have super strong feelings about the schools offering chocolate milk, but I note that removal of chocolate milk was the first recommendation when I saw a registered dietian for my son because the milk is filling and not as nutritious as the actual meal. I find the tone of the email unsettling. It feels alarmist without any substantiation, and it has the feel of a “Got Milk” ad from the 90s. I’m sure this is just hitting a spot for me given my experience with my son, right?

If you moved to the suburbs from the city, how did you decide to make the move and are you happier in the suburbs?

My spouse has recently raised moving to the suburbs, closer to my parents, and I’m starting to think more about it. We currently have one child (maybe 20% chance of having another one due to infertility). We have a small but comfortable apartment with a small outdoor space in our city. I really enjoy being able to walk 1 block to a park, the grocery store, daycare etc. But I also understand his desire to move – in some ways it feels like it would be easier to raise our kid(s) in an environment more similar to what we both grew up in since we were both raised in the suburbs.

When I ask people what they like about the city vs. suburbs, it often boils down to restaurants in the city and space in the suburbs, which feels like an over simplification.

My husband thinks the suburbs would be easier and just have less friction; I feel like my life is so easy right now and I think some of my hesitancy about the suburbs is I hate driving (and loading our kid into the car).

Am I being unreasonable? My BIL just got engaged to someone we adore. The engagement timeline was very well known. They live in NY and we live halfway across the country and have two kids. They are asking me when we can come for an engagement party in May or June….we are already coming to the east coast for 3 weeks in July. May is crazy for us with both kids birthdays, ballet recitals etc and in June DH already has a weeklong work trip to Europe. If we could hop in the car and drive 5 hours each way we’d do it in a heartbeat. Is it mean to say don’t plan around us we don’t know if we can come?

Does anyone have a cooler bag that they love for taking to the pool in the summer? We live in Houston where it gets hot and often spend the day at our neighborhood pool. Something large enough for a family of 4 and that’s not too hard to schlep.

Does anyone have any tips for helping a child stop picking their nose? My son is autistic and has a lot of other issues so this wasn’t the hill we were going to die on, but his teachers this year are constantly giving him grief over it. He is, admittedly, way too old for this – 10. thank you!

My newly 9yo is hosting her first sleepover on Saturday for her birthday! Just two girls. Plan is dinner/movie/ice cream sundaes. Any tips from sleepover-hosting veterans? They will all be in the bedroom — bunk beds plus a Nugget.
