Splurge or Save Thursday: The Handwoven Leather Tote

I’m on the hunt for a spring tote that’s more office than beach.
I’m considering this popular tote from Madewell. Made from woven leather, this large open tote has ample room for your laptop, water bottle, and more. Since it’s unlined, I’d add an organizer or some smaller zipped pouches to corral your smaller essentials like your phone and keys.
This Madewell tote is $198 at Nordstrom and comes in five rich neutrals (I’m leaning towards summit green). It’s also available directly from Madewell.

a few weeks ago we had a discussion about kids lying vs. wishful thinking….this morning Twin B was upset because Twin A’s friend said she is getting Twin A an apple watch for her bday and not Twin B. They are 7.
Anyone have a kid who suddenly became resistant to read aloud? My five-year-old used to love me reading out loud to her but now she grumbles about it. Sometimes I let her listen to a podcast (Wow in the World) instead but mostly I insist and she gets into the story but I’m worried I’m going to instill bad feelings towards reading in her.
I was a huge bookworm as a child so maybe putting too much importance on my kid loving books too but.
Is it really true that if one parent works from home and the other works from the office, both done at 5 pm, in a divorce proceedings the court may consider that as a factor against the parent who works from the office?
Like, I can’t accept a new job in the office if I may file for a divorce soon? This will count against me? Custody is my primary concern.
My 2.5 year is having a super clingy “mom” phase. It is coinciding with a phase where DH is busy at work and I’m doing a lot of parenting, but it’s becoming an issue because she doesn’t want to do anything with her dad, even when he is around to help, and I’m getting a bit exhausted. This wasn’t the case before, she’s always loved her dad. And then DH Any advice, or reassurance that this normal?
Has anyone figured out where all of the utensils go when you have tweens and teens?! I have checked their rooms. We have approximately 20 big spoons and 2 of the little spoons. Also, where do all of the electronics chargers go??!!
This might be a silly question but when do you stop using toddler spoons? Are there kid spoons before going to adult spoons? When do kids just use regular adult forks and spoons?
What do you do with babies? I’m pregnant with our first. I’m SO EXCITED to splash in puddles and stomp through the woods looking for creepy crawlies and throw tea parties for stuffies and go to Disney and all the kid stuff. But I’ve never spent any time around babies. I’ve never even held a baby, I’ve always been too afraid of dropping them. I’ve changed toddler diapers before so I think I’ll be ok with that part. But other than change and feed them, how do you interact with them? I swear I’m a reasonably intelligent person so I’m sorry if this seems obvious, but this is a pretty huge blind spot for me!
Recommendations for a baby monitor that comes with its own video or at least sound monitoring device AND an app for your phone? All of our friends have monitors that have the phone app only. We’ll have a night doula and then a nanny for a few months. I want them to be able to use the monitor but I don’t want them to have an app on their phones. We don’t have a spare device we could just keep at home. Thanks all!
I’m pregnant! Only at 6 weeks so DH is the only one who knows, and I have an appointment with my OB next week. But, this week has hit me hard with symptoms. The fatigue is the worst of it, but I also have mood swings (random crying) and congestion – not sure if this is a separate cold virus or pregnancy related, but it’s making it harder to sleep. I’m a fed (for now anyways) and can’t telework anymore.
Any tips on getting through the first trimester? I’ve been closing my office door to put my head down on my desk throughout the day, but am constantly exhausted.
I asked the other day about crafts for elementary school students and you guys gave the best advice — thank you! I’ve used several of your suggestions during the kids’ spring break week at home. I wanted to add one more that was a huge hit on yesterday…collages. I gave them a bunch of old magazines and they made a giant collage poster together, plus an “alphabet book” for our 3yo.
On a completely unrelated note, my absolute favorite socks from Target are on sale. I have both colorways and get so many compliments on them, they are the perfect height and thickness. https://www.target.com/p/women-s-striped-cushioned-ankle-socks-3pk-universal-thread-4-10/-/A-84208730
