On the topic of gift-giving that we find annoying….
On a scale of 1-10, how annoyed would you be if your M/MIL bought your children $200 worth of specialty candy at a candy shop. Literally handed them a bucket and said “fill it up! grandma is treating you today!”
The one true answer is 10, but I’ll entertain alternatives.
Middle school parents: do your kids get study halls during the day? my 7th grader just got her schedule– they are on a 4-day rotation, she has study hall on 3 of the 4 days, and one of those days she has it twice! I think the twice-in-one-day is a fluke and I’m sure they’ll fix it, but it still seems like a lot of down time for a middle schooler!
Ok straw poll. My six-year-old’s school is doing spirit week (ugh) culminating in class color day where each grade wears a different color and they take a rainbow picture. Her class is yellow and she doesn’t own any yellow because tbh it’s the worst color.
She is desperate to wear a banana costume. I think that’s pretty funny but also too much, right? I told her I’d ask other moms.
My 4yo qualified for school district speech therapy, 2x a month. Those who’ve been through it, is that actually enough to improve his articulation of Fs?
Our son’s second birthday is coming up and I’m debating what to get him from us (parents). He already has the Melissa and Doug cleaning set and a balance bike; he hasn’t taken to the latter yet. What were your greatest hits at that age? We don’t have a large yard, just a small patio area, so it can’t be a swing set or anything like that.
Rant about my MIL:
She buys things that I want to buy for my kids, constantly. Months in advance.
My son’s birthday is at the end of October. He really wants a guitar and I’m planning on getting him one (he’s young, so a toy guitar). MIL already bought one.
The kids would love a T ball set, so I’m also getting that for his birthday. MIL already bought it.
Each year, she buys a Christmas dress months in advance for my daughter. And presents it to her by surprise randomly in like October, so of course my daughter loves it and then I’m not able to buy her a Christmas dress, or at least not without looking like the bad guy.
My husband “doesn’t want to hear it” or get involved in anything between me and his mother.
I guess I’m kind of happy she’s generous (not really though), but I definitely think there’s an ulterior motive.
