I’ve been on the hunt for a black belt that works with both jeans and dresses. Here’s a promising option from Treasure & Bond that won’t break the bank.
This basic leather belt has an eye-catching oval buckle, and the versatile 1¼” width works with just about anything. In addition to black, I’d be tempted to get it in cognac as well.
This belt is $49 at Nordstrom and comes in sizes XXS-XL.

Any recommendations for drilling sight words? Flash cards or something like that? My first grader is still not reading fluently and her teacher mentioned that she doesn’t seem to have the immediate recognition of common words that many kids her age do, and this may be holding her back. I realize this is sort of against the current advice about learning to read, but she is being taught phonics in school and knows the rules of phonics and can sound out words (laboriously), it’s the immediate recognition that’s lacking.
We’re taking my 2.5 year old to Sesame Place in Philly in June as part of a tag-on to a DE beach trip with my ILs. I went to Sesame when I was 3 so it’s been a very long time. I prebought tickets during a sale and got us lunch with Elmo who she’s currently obsessed with.
This will be her first amusement park and she’s newly potty trained. What should I know? I assume bring a stroller for when she gets tired. What should I not miss? Does she need a swimsuit? Are lines crazy and do I need to do some kind of Fastpass?
Another travel post. I know things are likely booked up, but we have flexibility on budget so hopefully that helps.
Looking for an outdoorsy trip for the summer in a cooler climate (we are in a very hot, sub-tropical climate). Thinking Jackson Hole area, but open to suggestions. Kids will be 4.5 and 7.5, active but not both athletic per se, really interested in nature (mountains, animals, bugs, trees, etc.)
Any suggestions generally or recommendations in/around Jackson Hole? I googled family resorts and it was all over the place. Open to a vacation rental, but don’t want to worry too much about groceries and cooking.
Any good TV show recommendations for my 10 year old DD? About to do a long car trip! Things she’s liked in the past: Geek Girl, Babysitters Club, Worst Witch. Anything with gymnastics or ballet?
She also loves home reno and design shows, so any that would be good to download there would be popular!
I’m the anxious poster that often posts about my younger kid (4).
Just a fun update for a change. He and I took a walk yesterday after dinner while older kid did homework. We collected sticks (some looked like the letter Y, the others like candy canes), and talked to the half-moon the entire time. Asked questions (why is it hiding behind a tree? What fruit does the moon like?), did voices, the whole thing was so fun. Did you know because the moon is a circle, it likes to eat big, circle pizza?
I have this belt in tan and love it. Sizing runs large.
How do you plan and budget for vacations? In my ideal world, we’d do a week of skiing in February (like a 4 day week my god the quads burn), Europe for a week in June, something domestic and nature focused in August, and a Grand Adventure over Christmas and NY. But. Money is real!!! Do y’all target a variety, a time of year, a tradition? Just interested in different approaches.
