It’s sweater dress season! If you just welcomed a little one into your life (or are expecting), this two-piece dress should have a place in your wardrobe.
This stretchy, ribbed sweater dress comes in two pieces: A hidden neckline pulls down for easy pumping or nursing, and the detachable top doubles as a nursing cover. Add a cropped leather or suede jacket and tall boots for a fall-ready outfit.
This sweater dress from Kindred Bravely is $90 at Nordstrom. It comes in three autumnal hues: charcoal, brown camel, and garnet. It’s available in sizes XS-L.

Im 32 weeks pregnant and just started having muscle pain, both in my lower abs and in my upper thighs (like lifting my legs really hurts for some reason!). Is there any kind of stretching or exercise I can do to relieve this? Thanks!
How often does your tween shower? My 10 year old is SO DRAMATIC about not wanting to shower. She whines and cries and makes a big deal any time I tell her to go shower, which is approximately every third day. She has really long hair that is her choice not to cut so I get that it’s a chore to detangle, wash and dry. But realistically, tweens need to shower at least as frequently as she does, if not more? She is not a sporty kid, she does activities that don’t make her sweat (art, music, drama) and she’s firmly pre-pubescent, but even still— clean your body and form good habits!
I wrote last week about my 7 yo daughter that I believe has dyslexia, and wanted to share a little update. Thank you to everyone who responded and shared perspectives.
I went ahead and contacted a local dyslexia therapist to hear their thoughts. When I relayed my concerns, the therapist said that she has heard my fact pattern before: mom notices symptoms and suspects dyslexia, daughter shows passing grades and screenings at school, daughter has severe frustrations at home over homework. She said girls often mask their struggles at school. She said the signs seem to be there, but recommended testing and also referred me to another dyslexia therapist who used to be one of the special ed coordinators in the school district my daughter is in. When I spoke to the second therapist she relayed the same information as the first. She also recommended testing. She also provided some context on the school. She said that this particular school district is strained for special ed funding. If the problem is noticed at school, they have to fund the testing and all the special help required. They are very focused on helping the children with active significant problems such as those who are failing tests and screenings of which there are quite a few. She said if I wanted to I could put more things in writing to the school and try to sort of force their hand to do the testing. I opted just to do private testing. It will be $550 out of pocket and it’s a screening for the big 3- dyslexia, autism, adhd. I also scheduled a pediatrician appointment. And we did a speech therapist appointment last year and ruled out speech/language comprehension issues. More to come.
I am interviewing for a new job this week. I am mainly interested in getting better work-life balance in this new role (I work in consulting and met my annual billable hours goal last month — oof, I’m tired). What questions are good to ask that will help me not only get an answer from the hiring manager, but also be good information from the other team members I chat with to confirm the hours from the hiring manager?
The recruiter and hiring manager know I am a mother of young kids and am really grinding at work now, and the feedback I’ve received when asking about work-life balance is that “this isn’t consulting, you’re not going to have 70 hour weeks.” Which is great, but 50 hour weeks are not 70 hour weeks and still something I’d like to avoid more often than not.
Thanks for any help!
Somehow it’s time to start thinking about holiday gift lists for grandparents. Ideas on physical presents for a five year old girl?
I posted yesterday at like 2:30 pm so reposting today. I may repost tomorrow because it is late, but my daughter started middle school this year. She is generally smart and conscientious and is in the most challenging classes, but has a tendency to “give up” if an assignment is too hard. E.g., if she doesn’t understand the material, she won’t do her homework and won’t study. I think she becomes overwhelmed and avoids the issue entirely. This is the first year she has challenging classes. In particular, she seems to be struggling the most in pre-algebra. How do we help her other than helping her with her homework (which is mostly dad, because I do not remember anything from school)? Do we get her a tutor? The goal for me is not for her to make As, but to learn to work through challenges rather than giving up.
Recommendations for a drugstore cleanser and/or light moisturizer for a 10 year old? Ideally the moisturizer would have sunscreen. Its hard to find stuff that doesn’t have a bunch of other ingredients, anti-aging nonsense, etc.
My 8 year old wants to learn how to embroider. I have no experience with this. Does anyone have a kit they’d recommend for beginners who wouldn’t have a parent able to explain instructions to them if they don’t make sense? I bought a small beginners kit but we couldn’t figure it out! TIA!
