Our PTA has the opposite problem. The president and treasurer are always men. The only volunteer opportunity that’s feasible for working parents is open only to dads. Moms are relegated to planning parties and making vats of chili for teacher luncheons.

Ugh that’s annoying. Our PTA is an all-woman exec board and so far everyone I’ve met volunteering at school has been a woman or a gay man. I don’t push my husband to get involved because he does a lot for our family and I enjoy this kind of thing way more than he does, but it would definitely be nice to see more hetero men involved. Other kid activities (especially sports) seem much more gender-balanced or even male-dominated though.
