Our daycare tour today was unexceptional, everything seemed fine though maybe not fantastic. One comment seemed odd, though. Going over food/bottle policies she backtracked and said, “Oh, he’s breastfed? Well, we had another mom who brought milk, it works okay.” Does that seem odd to anyone else? I thought pumping was pretty common these days?

Any recommendations for a chair or beanbag chair for a 4 year old? We have the Nugget couch in the playroom and want something for a bedroom too. The PB everywhere chair is cute but I’m not sure if a 4 year old would outgrow it too quickly (our 4 year old is very tall). Something that rocks or has some sort of motion could be nice. I’ve looked at the newer Nugget ottoman too but I think we want something with more of a back.

just a vent. i’m about to be 39.5. it feels like most of my other friends (both moms and not) are all thinner and like look better than we did in college, except for me. i’ve gained 15lbs in the past year, which I’d love to lose and can’t figure out how. going to visit my inlaws next week for thanksgiving and my MIL is like a size 0. i know there is more to life than size, but im just feeling like a mess and wish it was easier for me to not give into temptation and lose weight.

Did you continue to use sleep sacks for your toddlers? My daughter is growing out of her current sleep sacks, and I’m wondering if I should transition her to something else now that she is 15 months. Or do I just get bigger sleep sacks since I’m hoping to keep her in the crib for at least another year?

I have a note out to the ped, but noticing my kid (4) randomly squinting and almost looking super subtly cross-eyed/unfocused when tired. It’s not very noticeable, I think I only notice because, well, Mom. I’ve only noticed it at dinner time/evenings and then today in the morning. It’s happened about 5-6 times that I can count. Haven’t seen this happen when he’s playing, watching TV, etc.

He can definitely see (e.g. I ask “how many fingers am I holding up” from afar) and is behaving “normal” otherwise. Tell me not to freak out?

DS (4) is an extremely picky eater and dr is concerned about his iron levels. We have been giving him an iron supplement which has improved the numbers slightly, but probably not enough for dr. Checkup is tomorrow so I am trying to prepare for what dr may recommend next. Does anyone have experience with iron infusions for kids? Though DS is picky he mainly eats carbs and dairy and his growth and development are normal. He is energetic and doesn’t get sick that often anymore so no obvious signs of iron deficiency other than his labs.

My older kid is back in school after missing a week with a random virus! The first few hours of watching The Babysitters Club reboot on the couch with her were fun but we were both sick of her being sick by the end of the week. She was actually happy to do her makeup homework over the weekend.

Anyone else have a Monday win?

I’m 35 weeks pregnant and have had a couple of high blood pressure readings, so my doctors want to induce at 37 weeks. I’m feeling weird about it for a lot of reasons, including not having things wrapped up at work, messing up my family’s Thanksgiving plans, and needing to arrange childcare earlier than we’d planned. Plus worrying about my health and the delivery! Any tips on relaxing in these last two weeks, and also advice for last minute prep? Thank you!

Any recommendations for a kid’s camera? My son loves taking pictures on my phone, and I was thinking of getting him a simple camera for christmas. I’m weary of doing any of the instant print ones, because the cost will add up when he’s just taking a ton of random photos.
