A black tote with croc texture

This luxe oversized tote goes straight from morning daycare drop-off to red-eye flight.

Handcrafted in Italy, this bag marries a slouchy silhouette with enough structure to stand when placed on the floor. The lightweight vegan leather won’t weigh you down but is durable enough to withstand the bumps and spills of life.

Other practical details include a canvas lining, interior zip pocket, and detachable strap for shoulder or crossbody wear.

La Mama’s LM1 bag is $1,650 and comes in three croc-embossed finishes.

my 8 year old 3rd grader has had more trouble sleeping in the past two months than in the past 7 years (she has honestly always been a pretty good sleeper…which was great bc her twin was not, and at least only one child was waking me up). recently she’s had some trouble falling asleep, but more commonly is waking up in the middle of the night and being unable to fall back asleep on her own. she has anxiety and adhd and is on medicine for both, but no recent changes in dosages. like most kids, she cannot at all regulate herself emotionally when overtired and it is much much much more extreme with her. we have a big family event this weekend that will be a disaster if she isn’t well-rested. any ideas on how to help her get back to sleep more easily?

Is this sentence true? “We’re just finishing soccer and we all need a break.”

If it is, then the fact that your kid enjoys basketball doesn’t change the fact that your family all needs a break.

My 8 yr old just told my husband yesterday she wants to start a diet in November. We NEVER talk about weights or diet, and he reassured her she did not, etc, and asked where she even heard about what diets are. She said the Big Nate books, and now I also want to start book banning lol.

In all seriousness though, I am just so sad, that after growing up with weight obsessed fatphobic parents and flirting with eating disorders through my 20s, that my daughter is already focused on her weight. We lightly talk about healthy eating, listening to your belly, etc, but also have dessert every night and just generally try not to make food or weight a big thing. Anyone else heard similar things from your young daughters, and how to you handle?

Will someone please validate my choice not to sign my 2nd grader up for the first of two rec basketball seasons this winter?

We’re just finishing soccer and we all need a break. He will play the second, full winter, season. It’s just the “late fall” season that we are skipping.

At the time I made this decision I felt very confident in it, but now I feel guilty because he has so much fun playing. I’m not looking to raise Michael Jordan here, so why does this feel hard?

Can someone put me out of my misery and recommend snow pants that don’t “make a swishy sound or have a scratchy texture”?? My older daughter is actually pretty easy going but has asked me to procure this item for her. Whatever sensory issue she has isn’t horrible enough that she won’t wear the snow pants, but I can see in her little face that the fabric is making her feel icky, for lack of a better word. I have so far bought 5 pairs of snow bibs (Reima x 2, Burton, North Face, Roxy) and the Roxy one is “ok, I guess” but I wanted to see if I could find something better. She seems to not mind the “rubbery” waterproofing that is on her Reima raincoat and rainpants, but they don’t make a snow pants version with the rubbery-coating. Added plus, is her body shape at the moment has kind of a bid-kid (age 9) version of a toddler belly, and she’s really, really short for her age. I would pay any amount of money for this mythical item.

I totally thought this was a bustier at first glance.

Do you consider time to work out “me time?” I’m kind of on the fence – exercise is essential, like showering or hygiene, so it doesn’t feel like it’s in the same category as an hour to read a romance novel or take a bath, but yet it also is generally something you’re doing yourself and it can be very enjoyable. If you’re negotiating childcare and division of labor stuff with your spouse, is it me time or no?

What do your non-sporty middle grade kids do on the weekends?

I have 3 kids and two are on All The Teams. Weekends are games, practices, occasionally a tournament, and then meals with teammates etc. My 3rd kid, who is the middle and a 5th grader, is a big fat no on team sports. She’s chock full of activities but they tend to be weekdays. She’s doing a play with Saturday rehearsals but that’s now wrapping up. She has Girl Scouts once a month on Saturdays but it tends to be a different time than all the sports.

We do not make her a sideline sibling. She does have a Very Fancy sideline chair and will sometimes come to games and walk the dog around or read or craft in the sun or play with another sibling, but a lot of time she (understandably!) does not want to go sit on a field all day. Most times we can swing it so we have an adult to stay with her while the other kids have games, but it feels like she needs something to do on weekends (with or without an adult). She, the dog and I went on a long hike over the weekend while DH took the other kids to their 3 day soccer tourney but that ate up like 3 hours of a full weekend where everyone else is away. I find myself trying to do home chores/work but would prefer to find stuff to do with my kiddo.
We’ve done things like go to a rock climbing place or some other adventure but i also don’t want to have to schedule a big $$ adventure every weekend.

Any ideas? In winter, one of my other kids does ski team so middle will often tag along and ski during the races and if it’s logistically practical I offer to bring a friend for her. She’s old enough to stay home alone so she’ll do
That if DH and I both have to go to games and she doesn’t want to, but I don’t want her just lounging all weekend all the time either (sometimes is of course fine).
