It can be really hard to find a good knit button-front shirt, so the fact that this one comes in a zillion colors, short sleeves, petite and plus sizes, AND is getting good reviews is kind of a big deal. (Lucky sizes are on sale in olive and light blue!) My favorite colors are the light blue, the hot pink, or the black, but that’s me. They’re each $48, available in regular and petite sizes. Ski jacket question:
How good are Lands End ski jackets (3 in 1 parka or squall jacket) for kids? Has anyone tried them?
Thanks
Have reposted on the corporette site too…..
rakma says
The 3 in 1 parka was my 2.5 year olds jacket this winter, and it’s held up so well, it still looks brand new–even though she daily filled the pockets with rocks. I bought a size up, so I’m really hoping it fits next year.
MamaLlama says
We got the 2T for my daughter for the winter she was 1.5 (she was wearing 24 month/2T clothes at the time) and it was way, way too big. This year, she was 2.5 and wore it starting around January — prior to that she was still in her size 18 month jacket from LL Bean (also runs HUGE).
She just turned 3, and wears a 3T comfortably in all clothes, but I really think we’ll get an additional winter out of this jacket. It’s just that big.
She likes the thumb holes, but I think they make getting mittens/gloves on kind of annoying. Other than that, it’s held up really well to daily use playing outside in the cold in new england at home/daycare. We had this LL Bean jacket that ALSO ran huge. This one, I’d say is fine for colder weather, but NOT for skiiing or prolonged outdoor use. It wasn’t very water resistant and we often did many layers under. The lands end jacket above she wore with a shirt, MAYBE a fleece, snow pants with a bib, and hat/mittens. The LLBean jacket definately required a fleece, often a t shirt + turtleneck + fleece+ snow pants and I still thought she was cold.
Starting to work out again says
I have a toddler, haven’t worked out since 2013, and I just joined a gym. I’m so excited. I’m the kind of person who is delusional enough to think my body changes immediately when I start working out, so I’ll probably look like a toned goddess really soon.
Anon in NYC says
Haha. Same.
Tunnel says
Love it. But, seriously, after a week you will begin to feel better but may not necessarily see the numbers on the scale drop right away. Do not let yourself get discouraged!
MomAnon4This says
You already look like a toned goddess from over here.

Help :( says
My 14 month old goes through cycle of 1-2 days where he will vomit 2-3 times each day. Then there is a lull for a few days (sometimes a week or more) where he will be fine. He will usually vomit in the car on the way to daycare and at night. We have taken him to the multiple pediatricians but they do not seem to be too concerned. They think it might be reflux. My gut tells me its not reflux – he is over a year old – but I am not sure what else it could be? They don’t seem to think it’s an allergy to milk as sometimes he will go for 10-12 days without throwing up. He hasn’t put on much weight and is in the 1% – I am very concerned. I have an appointment with the GI specialist but it isn’t for another 8 weeks (UGH). Anyone go through something similar or have any suggestions for what it might be?
no clue says
I really have no idea but the fact that you said he vomits in the car reminded me of a story my friend told me about her very young daughter getting carsick in a rear-facing seat (resulting in vomit). I know it doesn’t line up exactly with the facts here, but just throwing it out there. Maybe a combination of certain things making him nauseous? Are you tracking his food besides milk? If he’s still on breastmilk, are you tracking what you’re eating?
Betty says
Actually, car sickness was my first thought as well. Does it begin with getting sick in the car and then linger for the rest of the day?
Other than that, have you tried keeping track of what he is eating to see if there is a common factor? Perhaps it isn’t an allergy but a sensitivity?
My oldest is a peanut who hovers around the 1-3% mark. It is ridiculously stressful, and I tend to get worked up when he eats less, doesn’t like a food or whatever. He has Celiac’s and we thought that treating the Celiac’s would increase his BMI, but nope. At 5, we are still going through various tests to see if there is an underlying medical issue.

14 month olds don’t put on much weight. They get taller.
Is the carseat at a proper angle for him?
Anon in NYC says
When my sister was young she had a weak lower esophageal sphincter and vomited a lot. I think it presented similar to reflux (and maybe it is what causes reflux – I really don’t know). It eventually corrected itself but my parents were planning on surgery to repair it.
MDMom says
My 12 month old vomits periodically when he has chest congestion. Not all the time. But maybe one once every few days when he’s eating and starts coughing a bit and the phlegm and combined with food to trigger his gag/vomit reflex. He spit up a lot until about 10 months or so. When he has really bad chest congestion he will sometimes vomit when coughing fit happens in car seat. Could it be something like that?
MDMom says
Wanted to add- he probably has a weak esophageal sphincter or a sensitive gag/vomit reflex. I spit up a lot as a baby and my husband reportedly was “a vomity kid.” My kid has been as low as 5th percentile. Most recently back up near 20th. Ped has never worried about it. At times I’ve worried about it, but now I’ve just accepted that he’s a pukey kid. It is what it is.
Betty says
Not with as much frequency, but we have these in our house. We call them “coughs gone bad.” See my post from Monday re: my daughter puking in her car seat on the way to preschool.
Practicing kindness says
Our 3yo has been paired with a new girl in daycare as her new ‘class friend’ and asked us this morning if it’s OK for 3yo to be mean like the new girl in class. I explained that it’s always better to be nice and kind but would like to get some books on this for modeling behavior. Any recs?
MomAnon4This says
What does “mean” mean? We had a friend at that age that was hitting, and sneaky, and hitting, and said NO a lot – to my son! 4 years later, my son still remembers that bad parts of that friendship! :(
Maybe also practice empathy? Maybe the new girl is mean because she’s new and doesn’t know anyone? Can your child think of a time when maybe s/he did not know how to act in a new situation?
But protect your kid — your kid does not have to be paired with this meany ALL the time?
Anonymous says
Our kids’ daycare teaches them to say “no, I don’t like that!” when another child’s behavior is bothering them (but not to hit back etc.).
Also, there are so many good Daniel Tiger episodes for stuff like this. — “Friends Help Each Other” “Daniel Gets Mad” “Daniel Gets Frustrated””Daniel Learns About Empathy” (can you tell I watch a lot of Daniel Tiger?)

My two year old has always worn honest company diapers, but we had to switch to pampers cruisers in the last couple of months because they are the only diapers I can find in size 7. However, he has really sensitive skin, and the cruisers are giving him diaper rash. Any recommendations for more sensitive diapers that would actually fit him? I know Walmart makes a size 7 diaper that I haven’t tried. Anyone have experience with that one?
NewMomAnon says
Can you get the Pampers Baby Dry diapers instead? My kiddo got really bad diaper rash from the cruisers, and it turns out that an extra absorbent diaper (like Baby Dry) helped a lot. I know I was able to find crates of the Size 6 Baby Dry at Target (although not on Amazon Subscribe and Save, boo). Not sure about Size 7.
AEK says
Bambo Nature. They are pricey but good. They have size zero to 6, but their sizes are different than USA brands. I think 6 goes up to 60 pounds or something. My 16MO (about 25 pounds) has been wearing size 4 forever.
MDMom says
We use and love these for our one year old.
JMDS says
Thanks! They look perfect (and so great that they are on amazon). Had no idea their size 6 was so big.
