Thanks for those who responded to my post about DH’s travel/burnout/grief yesterday. It really gave me a nudge. I told him yesterday that he needs a break, and if he doesn’t take one he isn’t going to take things off my plate the way he wants, let alone show up how he wants, so let’s focus on getting him there.
I want to flag that direct communication about what I need has historically been very hard for me, so I’m proud that I actually did this.
His initial response was like “I know you’re right but I can’t even think about it”, and I was like “Okay so I can help plan it”. Anyway, since then we’ve been messaging back and forth about some 4/5 day trips he can take to get out of his body and head a little bit. This would happen after my weekend away, of course ;)
