Family Friday: Kids’ Velour Leggings

These are my oldest’s favorite leggings — and just in time for fall, they’re now available in velour.
These ankle-length, soft and plush leggings add warmth on top of stretch. They pull on easily with an elastic waist and are designed for long-lasting wear. Pair them with a bold graphic tee or a festive dress.
Tea Collection’s velour leggings are on sale for $29.25, marked down from $39, and come in four colors. They’re available in sizes 3-6M to 16.

My sensitive precocious (probably 2E) preschooler is having trouble with the kids he’s been in daycare with since they were babies. He’s always fundamentally been an outsider: less risk-taking on the playground, engages more with teachers than kids, doesn’t have playdates and vacations with the other kids. But the daycare teachers used to say he was a mixer who played with everyone.
Since this year’s Kindergarteners left daycare, he’s consistently complaining that the other kids run away when he tries to play with them, won’t hold hands with him in line, tell him he’s not their bff. Another mom checked in with me about our kids “fighting”, although while us mom talked, our kids were being sweet to each other.
I’m pretty sure there’s one kid starting isht, and he’s setting the dynamic for the whole group. But I don’t see real animosity, they’re just acting out another phase “on each other” same as when they were wrestling on the baby-room floor.
What would you say to your kid about these interactions? How would you help, comfort, etc?
I need family photo outfit ideas for my 9 year old who is leaning more goth by the day, but mainly hates anything girly and must be comfortable. She will take a bribe, but draws the line at pink/florals or dresses. I never shop for her bc she gets hand me down leggings and hoodies lol. where should I look? Zara? where do alternative tweens shop? it’ll be a typical outdoor/fall shoot.
There’s a kid in my son’s class (2nd grade) who is a bad influence on him. What, if anything, do we do about it? We’ve talked to our kid about not going along with bad choices and told him if something is going wrong to go get a teacher and stop participating and things like that. I’m sure the teacher is aware of the dynamic. I’m also sure that the other kid is not always the instigator and my son makes his share of bad choices, but I do think this other kid is dragging him into mischief a fair amount.
I need a backpack that will carry several full-size textbooks and a lunch, and withstand being thrown on the floor of my car etc. Basically, exactly what a non-fancy highschooler would need. Recommendations, please?
Mostly venting – I have a 2 month old and a 4yo. My husband is travelling this week so it’s my first time alone with the two and I’m exhausted. I raised my voice at my oldest this morning because she wouldn’t put her shoes on, the baby was screaming and we needed to get out. Now I feel like I’m asking her to be the big kid when she is still really young but I also need to care for the actual baby and am sleep deprived. Please say it gets better? DH comes back tonight and he owes me a really long nap.
what are the best kids brands for pants for kids who aren’t especially willow/string bean/slim? I’m looking for pants for my daughter — she’s a 6 or 7 and on the cusp between sizes, but she complains about anything that’s too tight in the stomach. I’ve been buying and returning a bunch of pants (if the waist fits, they’re too long), so would appreciate any brand suggestions before I turn to hemming. H&M seems to run too slim; Hanna A has been a total hit and miss on sizing. she’s also interested in jeans and other “real” pants and won’t wear leggings. She especially likes wide jeans, but sometimes real denim is too stiff so we’ve been looking for softer chambray or jegging material (but in loose cuts). Thanks for any advice!
I need a swift kick in the pants to start therapy. I am really going through it with sandwich generation woes, little kids and an overwhelming job (that I LOVE, but it is extremely overwhelming). I have a wonderful husband, and I think I owe it to him and myself to start seeing a therapist to help me through this time. My problem is that I am not sure I can add ONE more thing to my plate. Has anyone else gone through this? I am sure I am not the only one.
My 3 year old hates bathes because she complains it makes her itchy. Any ideas? I’ve tried using colder water and putting lotion on afterwards, but she claims that doesn’t help.
I know everything is more expensive but it is wild to me that leggings for a toddler can cost $30 on sale. I’ve had good luck with the Old Navy fleece leggings which are usually 3 for $25-30 on sale.
