What’s the general consensus here as to when boys wetting the bed is a problem? my 5.5 year old has been day trained for literal years but has a wet pull up every night. we’ve tried various attempts at limiting fluids, waking him up to potty, but never really make any progress. He’s a very hard sleeper. I’ve looked into chiro, myofascial , and orthodontics but really hoping to avoid any of that expensive and time consuming journey.
Probably too late in the day so I’ll ask again tomorrow, but I am going to be interviewing for a very senior job when I’m about 10 weeks pregnant. I want to buy a nice suit, but I’ll be fluctuating sizes – any recommendations? This will be the first in person interview after several rounds by zoom so they won’t know that I look any different, but I also want to to be comfortable and not necessarily highlighting my midsection.
DH’s friend’s wife had a seizure while In Europe traveling with husband and 2 kids, and while she is fortunately fine, the experience was obviously extremely traumatic for all of them, and now she cannot drive for 6 months. we live far away, so we obviously can’t help with driving, and my immediate instinct is to send a meal or gift card for uber or ubereats, or something like that, but i’d also like to send something just for the wife (this is the wife of DH’s longtime childhood friend, the parents are all still close friends, etc.). for the moment she is totally ‘fine’ otherwise. any ideas?

First week of kindergarten here and WHEWWWW I was not prepared for the level of daily post school emotional outbursts! Is this normal? When will it end? It’s truly awful and I feel like I’m doing all the things I can that people say to do like bringing a snack to pick up, providing calming activities, snuggling and reading, giving 1:1 time. No matter what there’s just escalating behavior until a complete insane breakdown and the other kids in our family are joining in. The only thing keeping me sane is it’s been 3 days and I hope it will end soon. Please share your experiences and thoughts! And I did as much prep as we could I swear!
My not-quite-2yo is extremely interested in the kitchen. He’s played in the drawers and cupboards all his life, but now he wants to actually help. He unloads and loads the dishwasher with me every time. One night, he grabbed the spatula out of my hand and started sautéing onions!

When house hunting, how restrictive are you based on school districts?
I have one preferred district and 3 others I think I’d be okay with (but would like to do more research).
My husband thinks I’m being too restrictive, I think if there’s one thing to not fool around with it’s our kids’ education.
Unfortunately private is not financially feasible for us (my alma mater is close to $50k/year/kid), so being in the right district is super important to me!
i have a kid who has big meltdowns and i’ve come a long way in staying calm during them and i know how to handle them a lot better, but my body goes into fight or flight mode and it takes me a long time (internally) to calm down afterwards. does anyone have any tips? like i couldn’t fall asleep last night even though it was a couple of hours after
Any recommendations for a real bed for a six-year-old? Mine has been using her converted crib-to-toddler-bed, but it’s time to upgrade, in part so I can have space to read with her before bed. Is full size the way to go? Any counsel on IKEA-level pricing vs. more expensive? I can talk myself into either one; is it something she’ll have until college, or are beds subject to kid damage? Also, any recs on mattresses? All advice welcome!
Book recommendations for a sixth grade girl? I’m giving her my old kindle and leaving all of the books I think are appropriate on it, but I’d like to pad it out a little bit. She loves series like the hunger games and divergent now. Has liked keeper of the lost cities and that sort before. Enjoyed the outsiders and where the red fern grows this summer so will do a classic but cannot for the life of her finish Little Women or Anne of Green Gables. She’s watched the entire Summer I turned pretty series (oops) as well as Gilmore Girls (seemed okay?) so some s*xual moments probably okay but trying to stay away from anything explicit!
My 9 year old got her ears pierced this summer and is ready to change out her piercing earrings. What would you recommend for first earrings? I’m happy to grab hair accessories, necklaces etc. from Target, but for recently pierced ears, I feel like I should get something somewhat better quality to protect against infection risk etc. What have you gotten when your daughter first started switching out earrings? Am I overthinking this?
Talk to me about your TK (if you’re in CA) or kindergarten students being issued iPads in school. How’s it going? I’m seeing a lot of complaints locally and more broadly online as well – that parents are being promised it’s only for occasional educational use but then it’s actually YouTube being offered for frequent “brain breaks” in addition to flashy educational apps. In CA, the big LA school district is cracking down on personal devices for young grades and reducing tech use overall in favor of more pen and paper again, which is certainly evidence-based. What are you all seeing and doing about this? Does it bother you or is it OK in your area?
