After a long hot summer, I’m ready for some fall florals.

Holy crap. I cannot imagine a 6:30 bedtime. During the day care years, that’s around when we were getting home!
My oldest is going to be starting kindergarten in a year. My kids (including future K’er) go to bed at 6:30 PM and have since they were basically 6 months old. This timing works well with our daycare schedule and their sleep needs, but I’m realizing that might be too tough a bedtime to pull off in elementary school. The elementary day ends earlier than daycare, but should I expect that K kid will have evening activities or need that time for worksheets or other things? I know their sleep needs may change a lot in the next year regardless of any active effort from us. But we’ve tried in the past to move this kid even back to a 7 PM bedtime (and have thought they were ready in the past!) and it has been a hot mess every time so just trying to be realistic on working towards what we might need over a long timeline if needed.
Just want to put in a plug for the micro-adventure on the weekend or in the evenings – we can’t afford a real vacation this year (bought a townhouse/have zero PTO) but getting out for a beach day 1.5 hours away made it feel like summer. The memory of my toddler’s delight when the waves hit his feet will stay with me forever. It’s sometimes tempting to say the traffic or the hassle isn’t worth it but the payoff for modest outings can be surprisingly large!
