It’s teacher assignment day aka the day you text everyone you’ve ever met at your kids’ school to see who they have. My daughter ended up relatively happy: her closest friends are in other classes but she has a couple casual pals in her class, plus she knows and likes her teacher. Good vibes to everyone who will be in the same boat over the next couple of weeks.

Anyone have a rec for magnetic earrings for my tween who’s piercings closed up and really wants to wear earrings but is skittish about re-piercing?

DD turned 8 in May and still wears a pull up at night. We finally started trying without one two nights ago and she has been great at handling things herself in the middle of the night (like stripping the bed, or removing the pad i put on top, etc.) and then after having an accident she switches to a pullup for the remainder of the night because she is so tired. the issue with this is she still wakes up exhausted and we start school again a week from Monday. we didn’t do this earlier in the summer bc she was sick, i was sick, DH was traveling for work, etc. and so now I can’t decide if we keep trying this (which leaves her exhausted) or stop when school starts again? Today she slept until 8am, but she has to be at school by 7:20 so that obviously won’t work. the main reason we are trying is bc she wants to go to sleepaway camp next summer and obviously cannot wear pullups there.

Is there some trick I’m missing to making it easier to get a toddler in and out of the pool? We have a pool at home.

It feels like a huge (emotional and physical) lift to get the baby in and out of the pool, and as a result, we haven’t been spending as much time in the pool as I’d like. He’s not great with clothing and diaper changes. Stripping him out of his clothes and diaper, getting a swim diaper on him, getting a swim outfit on him, and then wrestling him out of all of that while we’re all wet is… a lot. I feel like this is a logistics problem that I’m failing. I’m tempted to just start taking him in the pool naked but I realize that’s tempting fate. And maybe also not setting the best precedent. Any tips for making this easier?

Posting here because ya’ll are honest while being much nicer than the main board about this kind of thing.

I have a lot of work-related anxiety. It ebbs and flows, and sometimes it’s under control, and other times it’s just not. Talk therapy also has not worked for this. I find myself avoiding certain tasks not because they’re difficult but because I’m afraid of pushback or the tasks becoming more complicated than they need to be because of someone’s wish list and/or unreasonable expectations (in my opinion). I am currently working under a leader who has a VERY hands-on approach in that she wants to give feedback on so many things, big and small (in my opinion). My anxiety has ramped up a lot because of that. Because it feels like nothing I do is ever good enough. I don’t think she actually feels that way, but I sure do. I don’t want to completely blame her, because I’ve always struggled with work-related anxiety to some extent. It just happens that I’m getting triggered more frequently these days.

I know that procrastination is an emotional regulation issue, and I am really struggling. And, I find it really shameful and embarrassing that I’m 45 years old and have not yet kicked this issue. I take it all too personally and am afraid of failure.

Cross posting from yesterday on the main site, I am looking for a new time management system/structure. I am feeling really disorganized and need something that will help me get caught up and keep track of things going forward. I used Getting Things Done early in my career but picked up the book again recently and it did not feel like the right fit anymore. I think I got out of the habit of following a system when I came back to work after having my first baby and this is really the time where I am most in need of a system! Probably looking for a book to read, maybe an online course but not will to spend more than a few hundred dollars on a course. Anyone have recommendations of what works for you?

Has anyone purchased any cute wedding guest dresses that they would like to share a link to? I have tried on 6-7 at this point and finding no inspiration. I am petite with a large bust. Attending a family wedding in a rural area early September where it will be hot. Trying to avoid satin, there will be lots of photos and it doesn’t always flatter my figure. TYIA!!!!!

I bought the Nordstrom boys boxer briefs in the NAS and both my kids love them. But, they are TTS or even run small, and they are sold out in their preferred designs and sizes now. Any other great packs of underwear for kids sizes 5-8 that hold up well, are comfortable, and reasonably priced? Anyone tried the Quince ones? Thanks!

Can those of you who require physical activity from your kids talk about the experience, what works and what doesn’t and what benefits (or downsides) you’ve seen? Do you require a sport, time outside, running, swimming skills?

Has anyone here used EMDR therapy for childhood trauma? Did it work? I’m the poster whose husband is remembering childhood abuse, and he wants to pivot from strict talk therapy to help manage panic attacks.

this dustpan is a great pick; every Montessori family I know has one or more and all four of my kids have enjoyed using it since they were babies.
