Organizing Thursday: Magnetic Cable Organizers

These sleek cable blocks will tame the pile of cables dangling from my desk.
This magnetic cable management system has three connectable silicone blocks that hold cables. Each block has two embedded weights to keep your cords in place and where you need them. These would also work well on a nightstand or in an entryway.
A set of these cable blocks, which are available in five colors, is $19.95 at Nordstrom.

Ok I posted about my 4-almost-5 year old’s finger sucking habit. I spoke to an OT who was like “it’s something he’ll probably grow out of, likely a sensory thing, so try some sucking/chew toys”. Well I did and I can’t tell if it’s made it worst – like now it’s more of all of the things vs before I thought he was getting better with reminders not to do it. Every time I tries to finger suck, I remind him to use the lego, which works 75% of the time.
Should I just ditch the toys and make a fresh start?
Edited to add: I feel like I’ve become more naggy/nitpicky with him about it…so maybe it’s me that needs the reset…
Any recommendations for somewhere to get a cute traditional sweater and corduroys for my one-year-old for Thanksgiving? I don’t love the cutesie character or bright motif options. Maybe a soft polo neck or something?
Recommendations for a lunchbox for a six-year-old? She eats school lunch during the year but I need a lunchbox for winter break/summer camp and I’m wondering if there are better options than the Bentgo one I used for her for daycare.
Anyone else with late-December birthday kids that would like to scream into the void with me? We always travel cross-country for the week between Christmas and New Years, and celebrate the b-day with a lot of extended family, and then a friends birthday party in early-January. I just made my list of “holiday magic” to-dos for the next couple months and that plus birthday tasks is stressing me out. I never want kiddo to feel like her birthday is less special but the sheer volume of little tasks, like ordering birthday wrapping paper and rainbow paper plates to my parents place is just a lot on top of everything else.
PSA for open enrollment time – I mentioned this in a comment on the main page, but thought I’d make a post here. If you’re going to give birth next year, consider enrolling in a hospital indemnity plan if your employer offers one. It’s a relatively inexpensive monthly cost and you get a pre-set cash benefit for each day of a hospital admission. For our plan, it was $1200 per day of admission with an extra add-on for intensive care stays, which netted us a nice chunk of change between my C-section and the baby’s NICU stay. If you’re otherwise healthy and not expecting a hospitalization, these plans don’t seem that worth it, but childbirth is a predictable admission during a time that is typically high-cost for most families. Think about it!
To all the PTO peeps out there — how do you raise money? What’s worked well? We are a Title 1 school where 75% of kids are from low-income families so I am especially interested in fundraisers that raise money from non-parents (e.g. community events or business donations). We need about $12k a year to continue funding teacher classroom needs, field trips, events, etc.
what girls leggings have you found to run the widest?
these would actually be useful, but i feel like $20 is a lot for something like this. anyone know of a knock off?
