Ok I’m officially an old… I don’t always feel that gap between myself as an elder millennial and my gen z students so profoundly but my goodness… a student has been showing up for class with multicolour star stickers all over her face. It was so distracting. I’m glad we are no longer ashamed of pimples, but I’m not sure putting reward chart stars on your face is an effective strategy.
For those with teens, is this a thing now?!
We’re going on a spring break trip to the Caribbean and my kids 5 and 3 are just not great in restaurants, especially like they will be after a day of swimming/beach. My husband and I will both be coming off an intensely busy period in work and could really use a trip that is as low stress as possible. We are obviously eating early at like 5:30 or 6pm when the restaurants open for dinner and we’ll get room service at least a couple nights, but for the nights we are out if its going horribly I just want to give them their tablets so I can have peace and quiet and enjoy my food / maybe talk to my husband. I know this is dumb but I am worried about the judgment. Normally at home we manage without tablets and put all the effort into helping our kids learn to behave in a restaurant. We bring non-tablet toys as well but that can just end in fighting if the kids are tired. This is fine right and I should just get over it?
I was at my 3 year old’s check up and found out she’s overweight. I’m reeling. The doctor was lovely and reasonable so it’s not that- it’s all my own feelings. Guilt, worry, anger. My husband is going through some medical stuff and work stress right now so I’m worried he’s not going to be on the same page as I am right now regarding making changes. Arrrgh.
Talk to me about ice skating. DD is 5, took some basic lessons, and we all loved it. We are at a stage where we could continue doing it for fun every winter, or could start doing lessons year round. She says she’s not interested in hockey. Maybe this is also a bigger question for this stage of life about when to “commit” to a sport versus just trying things out.
I had this, and it was fantastic with my twins. It has a nice ridge around the edge that keeps that babies rolling toward you. (I tried another brand, and the babies would sometimes roll away from me). I would drag the high chairs in front of the couch, load the babies into their highchairs, sit on the couch, put this on, and put couch pillows underneath for further support, and take one baby at a time out of their high chair and onto the pillow. Ah, the memories:-)
