Generally, wool coats are completely impractical for toddlers. But here’s a machine-washable version that looks just as good as mom’s.
This soft (so not itchy) poly-wool blend topcoat has all the classic grown-up details: notch collar, button front, and welt pockets. But there’s a tiny embroidered bear on the sleeve to show it’s a special coat just for little ones.
babyGap’s Topcoat is $52 (40% off!) and comes in sizes 6-12 mos. to 5 yrs. It’s available in camel brown and herringbone.

When do little boys become aware of clothing stereotypes like “pink is for girls”? I have dressed my toddler in cute colorful tee-shirts and leggings, including patterns with some hearts and flowers. His classmates clothes are definitely trending heavily towards trucks and superheroes now.
I don’t want to chose clothes for him that will get him teased (or judged by adults). What age would you phase out the less masculine stuff?
DS (4) gets upset when we wash him in the bath. We have to rinse off the soap from his hair and body but he cries hysterically the whole time. Doesn’t like when we use the handheld shower head or the water pitcher to wash his hair and face. Any other options to make bathtime less traumatic for him?
Is there a way to expand all comments? I often read this site when I’m in the train, and don’t always have cell signal. But then I can’t expand the replies. If I can’t see the whole discussion, i am a lot less likely to visit the site.
There is nothing cuter than a little girl in a dressy coat with tights and patent leather shoes. We had some adorable ones from Janie & Jack and I think from Crewcuts, all purchased on deep sale or resale.
