So earlier this week, I wrote about grown-up charms. I didn’t want to leave the kids out, so here’s some for them.
Charm It! has bright and colorful charms featuring hobbies, sports, holidays, and more! In addition to making your own collection, you can buy ready-made sets. For example, the Vacay All Day set includes a bracelet, five vacation-themed charms, and gift pouch.
These bracelets would make a fun addition to an Easter basket or a great birthday gift.
The Vacay All Day set is $47.

How does the tooth fairy thing work at your house? Do you use a tooth fairy pillow? How much cash per tooth?
There was a recommendation for a series of soccer books recently that would be appropriate for 9-10 YOs (that were compelling for the whole family) – but I can’t recall when? I think the comment said you were doing it as a read aloud? Anyone know which one those are?
My 8 YO is deep into Keeper of the Lost Cities right now. Also popular: Spy School, Impossible Creatures, Nate (which is reads in about 30 mins).
TY
I’m searching for an “unstructured” pair of jeans or pants that I can wear very casually. Something baggy. Not super high waisted; I am going for comfort here. Any ideas?
Hey – a few updates have been posted lately, and I still think about the poster who’s husband was asked to leave an outdoor restaurant for being overserved. Thinking of you, if you are out there, and hope your husband is doing better.
My daughter is going to a friend’s Bat Mitzvah on Saturday — I’ve never been to one, and neither has she! She’s so excited — what is an appropriate gift? I assume a check is preferred? My daughter will be going with her friends, neither my husband nor I were invited (a bunch of school friends were invited sans adults). I know the family socially as our daughters are buddies, but not super well — we are friendly at events but don’t socialize outside of social gatherings at school. That said, they are wonderful people, and the girl has been a great friend to my daughter. We are in the DMV.
Would love to hear stories from any moms who had kids with significant speech problems – not necessarily looking for any particular outcome, just what the experience was as the kid gets older. Kid is 2, has been in EI for a year and gets 2-3 visits a week. Comprehension is great, expressive language is very inarticulate/poor pronunciation (basically not understandable besides immediate family and teachers). Have checked for hearing / ear tubes and that’s not the issue, no signs yet of other neurodiversity though it’s of course quite early and that may change. We will do whatever we can to support and are just curious what that looks like for other families who may have had kids with similar challenges throughout childhood or into older years. Kid is happy and loved and otherwise healthy, so we’re so grateful for that!
Any recommendations for toddler-chasing friendly casual shorts with a 5 inch inseam? My aesthetic is outdoorsy dork but would love to shift that to outdoorsy cute. Size 12 with thighs so need something that doesn’t ride up too bad.
Any advice on explaining death to a 3.5 yo? I had to travel back to my home town abruptly to visit my grandmother, who passed away yesterday. DH stayed home with DD, and told her mommy had to go to visit Great Grandma Sally who was sick and in the hospital. We have always made a big deal about how the doctors in the hospital make you better, and now I’m struggling with how to explain that Sally didn’t actually get better, but passed peacefully surrounded by her family. We aren’t particularly religious and I’m struggling with the script for this…
