Everlane - The Sweater Tee in Ultrasoft Merino

As summer fades into fall, I like to swap out my delicate shells for something more substantive like these ribbed sweater tees.

Made from Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)-certified ultrafine merino wool, these tees are your ideal fall layer. The classic fitted crewneck silhouette is thin enough to fit under your autumn blazers and vests yet substantive enough for warm spells. Complete your look with all four colors/patterns.

Everlane’s sweater tee is $98 and available in sizes XXS-XXXL (some colors lucky sizes only).

Can anyone recommend a decent diaper bag for an outdoorsy, non-stylish couple with one kid on the way? It would be great to find something that works well for baby needs but can also adapt over time. We have a very small place and have to cut down on single use items. Would an LL Bean boat and tote bag be too disorganized?

My kids are 9 and 7; 9 year old is a bit sensitive to thrills and chills and 7 year old loves spooky stories. We’re trying to come up with a movie for family movie night this week and I would love something I haven’t seen 8 times already but is seasonal. Any recent hits in your household or any ideas for me?

My 7 year old very casually mentioned she is gay. This is not surprising news. We live in a liberal area and I expect her school to be extremely supportive if/when it would ever come up there, but does anyone have any book recommendations for my husband and me to read? Thinking particularly about helping her navigate relationships and friendships, and also coming out to relatives and others.

Is the North Face fleece jacket hopelessly dated at this point? I’ve been wearing once since 2010 so I assume so. You know the one I’m talking about- zips up the front, smooth on top and the rest is fleece?
If it’s hopelessly dated, what would be a fresher alternative? I need a casual workhorse for chilly but not cold days that has pockets and is machine washable.

my 6 year old who is in first grade had some classwork where they cut out pictures with captions of different things and sort them into good choices/citizenship and bad choices/citizenship, things like recycling, leaving a mess, etc….one of them was “driving the speed limit.” apparently drivers ed starts in first grade?

Please don’t flame me for this question. I’m really just trying to figure out whether I can sit tight or whether I should be doing something.

My daughter, who will be 6 in December, just started kindergarten. She was at a Montessori school for two years before that, and daycare before that. She started reading when she was about 4 1/2. Currently she reads Magic Treehouse books independently – I’ve seen her read one in a single sitting (she also has a very long attention span). I’ve tested her comprehension of the books to make sure she’s actually reading/absorbing. Her spelling and vocabulary seem excellent to me, but she’s my oldest and I don’t have much to compare to. She devours things like our kids’ atlas, highlights magazines, American Girl books, etc. She writes simple stories and recently wrote a few poems which weren’t bad (lots of silly rhyming and some of it pretty funny). Thanks to Montessori, she can write in print and cursive. To be clear, she is the driving force behind all of this. We did not do anything specific to teach her to read or write beyond reading to her and providing lots of books.

It’s been two weeks of kindergarten and per her report, they do a different letter of the alphabet each day. They work on writing the letter in lower and uppercase. They circle words that start with that letter. According to her, she is not bored, but this is such basic stuff for her – she could have done all of this work when she was 4, and she’s almost 6.

If it’s totally fine to just let it be, please tell me that. I just don’t want to realize a year from now that I should have pushed the school/teacher to do more for her. Also, it’s only been two weeks of the school year. Is it possible the teacher will start to personalize instruction more as time goes on? We are in an excellent, top rated school district FWIW.

Thanks

Looking for a winter jacket for my 8 year old boy. Details: live in southern New England and play outside (but don’t ski), so need some warmth, prefer a hood. I’ve gotten Lands End in the past, but this year’s similar offering just has one negative review. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Can anyone tell me about their experience with either the Yoto player or Tonies Box for young kids? DS is 2 and I assumed he would be too young to get into either yet (not have enough comprehension or attention span), but I’m hearing more and more from parents with kids around his age that have them already. It would be nice to have something that is not TV/tablet when we need a break…
