Kids tired of winter? Look forward to summer or a winter getaway with this sand and water sifting funnel.
Pour dry sand or water into the top and watch different levels tip, spin, and sift. It includes a convenient handle for carrying. Until that next trip to the pool or beach, it makes a fun bath toy as well. Some commenters said cornmeal also works for indoor play.
Melissa & Doug’s Seaside Sidekicks Sand-Water Sifting Funnel is available on Amazon for under $15.

Birthday presents ideas for two five year old boys that are having a joint party next weekend? My daughter doesn’t know them well so I have no idea what they like and they both just celebrated Christmas so I imagine there are lots of new toys floating around?

Fresh craft supplies (new markers, both normal and thin size, watercolor paint and watercolor paper, glue sticks). Signed, both my kids have winter birthdays and this sort of thing I can just store if they don’t need it right away. And, it will not matter that you get both kids the exact same thing. Just please, no glitter or un-washable paints.

Bonus ideas? I got my year end bonus and would like to do a nice thing for myself and my wife. The wrinkle? We have a 6-week-old, so even a date night is off the table for a good while. Thoughts? We don’t really need stuff…

Congrats! Save it for a fabulous vacation in a few months? There’s often a sweet spot for vacations around 6 months, when baby is settled into a routine and sleeping decently at night but is still immobile and can be carted everywhere the parents want to go. I wish we had traveled more my kid’s first year.

This is a great idea! I should have added that we also have a 3yo.

Ah yeah that complicates things :)

Congratulations on your new baby and your bonus! Do you have a close friend who could watch the baby for a couple hours? (I would think of friends who have kids — I would be honored if a friend asked this and absolutely would agree in a heartbeat.) If so, you could do a lunch date or quicker dinner. If no or that doesn’t appeal, what about getting a personal chef to come cook a nice meal in your home?
